Buckhead had been trending toward gold-plated toilet since the sixties. I grew up on the edge of it, just across the Southern RR tracks from it, and lived in the area until I got married. When the Southern RR got MARTA trains running beside them, I knew it was only a matter of time before it became an upscale slum.
Metro Atlanta has become Woke & Uniparty, and only transplants from worse shit-holes think it’s a great place to live. Also young fools who fancy upscale city life like my daughter, who lives a mile from where I grew up, in a high-rise which didn’t exist ten years ago.
I worry about her every day, but she doesn’t bar-hop, doesn’t even drink, and she still comes way out here across the Chattahoochee River to hang out with old friends.
But she’s got a dog, and she has to walk it at night in the dog park off Peachtree Road near the apartments. Be safe, honey. And keep going to the shooting range with tour boyfriend.
We will be out of the shithole Atlanta metro area before the year is out.

I live OTP in Cobb county, and notice more and more security bars going up on windows, and the robo cop cameras in parking lots. a couple of Walmarts now have most of the merchandise under lock and key, not sunscreen, paper, and work boots but anything electronic, hygiene and laundry soap is all you have to get a clerk now.
looking forward to retirement next year, and leaving this version of California light.
