Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said in a new interview with “60 Minutes” that the firing of James Comey as FBI director was the “biggest mistake in modern political history.”
In an unaired portion of the interview, Charlie Rose asked Bannon a line of questions about Comey’s May 9 firing and the subsequent hiring of Robert Mueller as special counsel.
“Someone said to me that you described the firing of James Comey as the biggest mistake in political history,” Rose told Bannon.
“That would probably be too bombastic even for me, but maybe modern political history,” replied Bannon, who resumed his position as chairman of Breitbart News after he left the White House last month.

Comey shouldn’t have been fired. He should have been stood against a wall and shot like the treasonous bastard he is.

Bull Shit, fire his ass. So the alternative was to have a guy RUNNING THE FBI that’s trying to stick a knife in your back? That seems like a much worse option than Mueller. Not to mention the FBI and DOJ would have no cooperation rendering them even more infective than they are now.
Should have been fired day 1 and investigated immediately for mishandling of Clinton email investigation (interview wasn’t taped, inappropriate people allowed in the room for certain interrogations, etc.).

Everyone’s a critic. It’s easy when you’re not on the hook for the outcome of a decision.
And I don’t trust the media to put anything about Trump in context.
It’s only a big mistake if Mueller actually uncovers something of substance against President Trump. Until such something happens, the statement is massive hyperbole and shouldn’t have been said by Bannon.

I think more of Bannon after this interview than before I saw it. I think Charlie Rose is so Liberal, that every question was a loaded bear trap. He’s still struggling to deal with Clinton’s loss, and his questions were all designed to drive a wedge between Trump and the Republican powers that shouldn’t be conducting business as usual. Elections have consequences, right?
