Bannon To Republicans: George Bush’s Presidency ‘Most Destructive’

[…] Bannon’s remarks in Anaheim were in response to a speech by Bush in which the former two-term president delivered some harsh words for the current Republican administration’s emphasis on “America First,” and the “isolationism” that Bush says it spawns. Bush suggested Trump’s “nativism” was destroying the country.

Bannon was having none of it.

“There has not been a more destructive presidency than George Bush’s,” Bannon told a crowd that booed at the mention of Bush’s name, then rose for a standing ovation at the end of the speech.

  1. I still respect GWB for his handling of 9/11, and I still believe him to be a very decent human being. But I’m more than disappointed that after eight years of staying out of the spotlight during the worst administration of my lifetime he feels compelled to speak out against what I believe to be our last best hope.

  2. BENCH-WARMER George W. Bush observed 911, and his father was in Daley Plaza when Kennedy was shot. “I don’t remember what I was doing the day Kennedy was assassinated.”

GWB had a GOLDEN opportunity to do something with a Republican Congress. Nope. Just the Patriot Act and never-ending war.
    Thanks!

  3. I liked him at the time but I didn’t pay much attention to politics back then.
Today, I think he either was a democrat plant or he couldn’t connect the dots.
    Shit, maybe both!

  4. The things GWB did [TARP, calling islam ‘religion of peace’, not defending Conservatism and Capitalism, etc] made it easy for 0bama to carry on the way he did. He was the gateway drug president that got us 0bama. The captain of the choom gang.

  5. It’s all about how Trump made his lame, stupid, little brother Jebbie look.
He has loyalty to his brother. Too bad he’s lost his loyalty to this country.

Then there’s that SOB McCain with his vendetta against Trump too, along with those empty barrels Hillary and Obama.

  6. Bush is the second string, a relief player. If the Left cannot delegitamize Trump’s presidency — and so far every attempt has been thwarted — in comes Bush and there will be others after him.

  7. “He tried to kill my Dad.” That was all the justification Bush really needed to invade Iraq. The rest of it was just fake weapons of mass destruction. Did Bush ever read a book about what a hopeless Shithole Iraq was by anyone who knew the country before he decided to finish his Daddy’s war? Bannon was right about Bush being the most destructive Republican President in our recent history. He allowed the Republican Congress to spend money like Democrats, trying to buy voters who would never stray off the Plantation. After 9/11, Bush could have secured all our borders on the basis of national security, and millions of illegal aliens would have been kept out of our country. That alone makes him the worst Republican President in my lifetime. Bush might have been a lot better than Gore, but he was barely better than Clinton.

  8. my best ‘W’ moments … when he climbed on the rubble of the World Trade Center w/ the megaphone … when he threw out the first pitch in Yankee Stadium after 9-11 …. & when after shaking the hand of a Haitian in a Relief Effort, wiping his hand on the back of Bill Clinton

… other than that … he destroyed the economy w/ $200 trillion in debt, drove the country into the deepest recession in history (” I’ve abandoned free market principles to save the free market system.”), & brought about the Obama Insurgency

  9. He was an American unlike Barry the bar room blower. He was my Commander in Chief for 8 years. I also served under Reagan. Reagan was not all perfect either, but he was an American.

But he fuckered us good with homeland insecurity and the tsa.

  10. To be perfectly honest other than cutting taxes what exactly did Bush do better than Clinton? I’m talking shit that made things better for America and it’s citizens. You could argue he made shit worse, we got the Patriot Act, bailouts and trillions in debt, then of course we got Obama. Compassionate conservatism looked a lot like liberalism to me.

Plus he told me Islam was a religion of peace and we should show love or some such bullshit to our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Daddy gave us Clinton and son gave us Obama, then they thought they’d pull a trifecta on us and force Jeb on us.

I never understood why conservatives liked Bush. Screw the entire Bush clan.
