7 Comments on Beekeeper loses livelihood after neighbor has 20 beehives removed from his property

  1. Besides trespassing and theft of the bees, it looks like the neighbor was attempting to encroach on the old guy’s property and claim it by adverse possession. The cops and the DA should be sued along with the neighbor.

  2. The idiot shit in his own mess kit. Rustling livestock can expose him to a hell of a lot of liability he wasn’t aware of. We have a friend that had a Charolais bull stolen and barbequed. The bull itself was $ a quarter Big. The damage to his breeding program was paid out to be about ten times that amount by his insurance. The bastards that ate it were college students who’s parents are wealthy and they are on the hook for the entire amount. They have a lien on any future inheritance and word I got is that the parents have been trying to negotiate a cash buyout of the lien because it accrues interest at market rate plus.

Bees are more likely than not looked at in the same way and the guy has a lifetime investment in developing and improving his herd.

  3. Stealing other peoples property is no trifling matter. Big or small, it’s property, the investment and the income it represents and at that age it’s his whole life!
Something about minding yer own bees wax comes to mind here!

  4. If it was Canuckistan, the Feds would have Corralled the Bees in a Pen, in the middle of the Night under Intense Spotlights and shot them 1 at a Time.

    OSTRICH STYLE!
    (look it up)

  5. Sorry, calling bullshit without even clicking the link. I am a hobby beekeeper. You’re not making a living off a handful of hives (40-50, maybe), and they can be relocated overnight in a matter of minutes. Wait until dark when the bee’s are all inside, close up the entrance, move back to your property line, open up the entrance. In the morning, the bee’s don’t know anything happened.
