Breitbart: The 54-year-old Denny’s restaurant in Democrat-run Oakland, California, closed permanently on Wednesday due to crime plaguing the area.
The Hegenberger Road location shut its doors at 1:00 p.m., and a sign on the front door said the restaurant chain hoped to see customers at another location in the Bay Area, KTVU reported.
The outlet noted the restaurant has experienced car break-ins, robbery incidents, and violent criminal activity. more

I believe when I was in California in the late 70’s they called them Sambos. Must have changed the name for some reason.

Dennys has always been Dennys. 1st opened in Lakewood 1954 same time as. oldest Miky D’s opened up the road in Downey.

jarhead, the one I was in was somewhere in Southern Cal just off the Pacific Coast Highway.
The Sambos we were in had a nightclub beyond the dining area. The menu made me and my buddy believe it was like Denny’s as it was so similar.
While we were eating Red Skelton walked through into the nightclub part. Sadly I wasn’t yet old enough to enter the nightclub. Bummed me out as I loved Red Skelton due to his show as a kid.
This is a short walk from the profitable In & Out that also closed here a week or so ago… Of course you’d get mugged twice trying to make that walk, but…

They always mention a “beloved” old movie or a “beloved” old actress (usually a person I’ve never heard of) who passed away.
Even inanimate objects, like a beloved old cookie recipe from Grandma, or Dad’s beloved old Atari computer.
