Ben & Jerry’s responds to fierce backlash about Linda Sarsour and ‘Pecan Resist’ flavor

BPR: The internationally recognized ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s made it clear in a Twitter statement this week that it’s willing to tolerate antisemitism and misogyny in the name of resisting President Donald Trump’s otherwise successful presidency.

The informal statement was published three days after the ice cream manufacturer unveiled a new chocolate ice cream flavor Tuesday dubbed “Pecan Resist.”

“We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants,” Ben & Jerry’s wrote in its initial announcement.

“Pecan Resist supports four organizations that are working on the front lines of the peaceful resistance, building a world that supports their values. Get to know them, then find Pecan Resist here!”

What stirred controversy — besides an ice cream manufacturer needlessly involving itself in politics — was that one of the “four organizations” that the company announced it’d partnered with happened to be the Women’s March.

The Women’s March is a left-wing organization that’s run by Linda Sarsour, an Islamic fundamentalist, who has been called an anti-Semite and a misogynist and who boasts ties to the notorious Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan, of course, has over the course of his career in hate, praised deceased Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, described the Jewish people as “termites” and derided the Jewish religion as a gutter religion.

Sarsour has a history of misogyny. Seven years ago she posted a tweet suggesting that the vaginas of Brigitte Gabriel and Ayaan Hirsi Ali — two survivors of Islamic oppression who now fight for women’s rights in Muslim countries — should be ripped away.

When several Twitter users tried to highlight the left-wing activist’s history to Ben & Jerry’s, the company issued a statement revealing that it’s willing to overlook her flaws and focus on her alleged efforts “to promote women’s rights.”

  1. Politics in ice cream is okie-dokie for B&J but when a black model attends a White House conference she loses her job.

Vote GOP. Hold your nose if you have to but vote GOP straight down the ticket.

  2. Another group of greedy maggots tapping into the angst of the ignorant.

    Tantamount to grifting retards.
Getting slap-heads to hand over their lunch money.

Ben & Jerry’s would be ashamed, but they pretend that having the retards’ money in their pockets, instead of in the retards’ pockets, is a better place for it.

    Pretty typical.

  3. I already don’t buy Ben and Jerry’s ice cream beacuase of overt political statements in the past — and because it has always been ridiculously overpriced. Have you tried Blue Bunny? Great ice cream, been around for 100 years and they support worthwhile causes like make a wish.

  4. They could make the best ice cream on the planet, but I wouldn’t buy their communist made America hating shit if my life depended on it…and if any of my relatives who have hopes of inheriting anything after I kick the bucket so much as say they’ve tasted it…they are OUT OF THE WILL!

  5. It is Unilever, a multinational food and cleaning products conglomerate, not quaint little ‘ben and jerry’s.’ Have a gulp of globalism with each spoonful. They’re hiding behind a purchased name, and they will gladly take your money if you are stupid enough to give it to them.
I hope they get law suits from over protected kids with nut allergies.

  6. Redgrandma,
I always ate Blue Bell ice cream until they shut it down for listeria, so I tried Blue Bunny then and it’s pretty good. When it comes to ice cream though I’m a bland sort of girl, just plain ol’ vanilla or chocolate for me and Blue Bunny is actually better than Blue Bell.
