Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is busting out of his Army base — but this time with a little supervision.
The former POW — who was released by the Taliban in exchange for five Guantanamo Bay detainees May 31 — has taken several trips away from Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, where he’s currently recuperating, a military spokeswoman told CNN.
Bergdahl’s off-base excursions are meant to slowly reintroduce him to normal life, the spokesperson said. So far, he’s taken trips to a library, a supermarket and several stores — always with members of his reintegration team.
He’s even stopped for grub at fast-food and sit-down restaurants.
“Sometimes they sit at the table with him,” said the Army spokeswoman, referring to his escorts. “… Other times, they hang in the background.”

Liberals sure know how to treat the enemy
He ought to be recuperating in front of a firing squad.
The new obama Army. Where laws and the military code mean nothing.
Where deserters can get their buddies killed, be promoted, treated as heroes, receive medical treatment while honorable veterans die waiting.
why are we still celebrating the 4th of July?
I’m confused…Are we celebrating the freedoms and liberty we used to have or the chains we now wear?
“…always with members of his reintegration team…”
Reintegration? Try, re-education team, or “this is your story and your sticking to it” beat-the-desertion-rap team.
What, his imam is taking him to the local mosque?
Why hasn’t this little prick been charged yet?
@IronyCurtain…
To paraphrase Barack Hussein–and Liam Neeson–there is no more beautiful sound than the call to Ready, Aim, Fire.
He’s a vet, right? At least for now. Why isn’t he making his recuperation appts with the local VA?
@Tony R…”.Why hasn’t this little prick been charged yet?
If that happened then ‘The Clown’ would have to admit he made a mistaken. Him? Admit that?? Maybe when goats fly.
isn’t it a conflict of interest to allow his goat to also be his supervisor??
Let me guess, is he attending a Jane Fonda movie marathon this holiday weekend?
I hope he finds a short pier on one of his long walks.
