  1. Republicans – take both Houses of Congress in 2022.

DeSantis – elect as President, 2024

Trump – appoint as Attorney General, 2025

    Outcome: serious fucking SWAMP draining.

  2. 2024 Trump

    2028 maybe DeSantis
Don’t want to continue the insane career politicians we have had.
Get in serve an office 6 – 8 years max and get out.
No moar political gravy train. Give others a chance to serve.

  3. Yale, then Harvard Law, then US Navy JAG Corps assigned to Seal Team One. He is a brilliant and erudite man, and we Floridians could not be more proud. He knows just what to say and when to say it. Watching him at any presser turning the “journ-o-lists” into stuttering Porky Pig fools is a delight to behold.

  4. Obviously we have lots of time left, if the country is still viable by then, but one of the hottest threads this site will ever see is the one pitting Trump vs. DeSantis for 2024, and why. Hopefully the servers can handle the heat.

  5. Unfortunately for any State that has a great governor, they don’t always keep a good governor. I’m reluctant to move to a State who has a great governor only to be met 4 years down the road with someone like Newsome or Cuomo. I live in California and have seen it play out time and time again. Sister moved to Texas and she thinks she’s still in California, Wherever you go there you are.

DeSantis isn’t going to drain the swamp. I think Trump knows exactly what needs to be done. I think DeSantis might be Trump’s VP pick, and DeSantis will be groomed for the Presidency, I think that’s how it will play out. Trump was gypped out of the presidency and he’ll be reinstated to make things right. /just my take

  7. I agree with grool AND Goldenfoxx.

I don’t think DeSantis should leave until he runs up against term limit in FL.

IF Trump can be reinstated (I know, no precedent. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make one now!), he should peg Ted Cruz, Jim Jordon, Rand Paul, or someone like that, to be his VP.

Possible, but what would it be, exactly? Appoint another AG who stabs him in the back and gets nowhere? What makes us think he can succeed with that approach the second time around?

    (Just a propsition, however! 🙂 )

  9. Anony – the U.S. AG is a political, Executive Cabinet, appointment, there is no Constitutional, nor Fed Reg requirement that the AG be a lawyer. 28 U.S. Code Ch 31 lists no qualifications other than the President appoints, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. Of the 86 U.S. Attorneys General, roughly 73 had some form of prior legal background, pvt practice, prosecutor, judgeship, etc.

That said, in today’s climate it would be difficult, though not impossible, to get Senate confirmation for one whom is not.
