(Joshua Paladino, Headline USA) The White House has revoked its support for the Eastern Mediterranean pipeline, a 1,900km project that will transport natural gas from an Israeli-owned offshore drilling site to Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus, The Gatestone Institute reported.
The Biden administration discussed the decision with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan but apparently did not include the pipeline’s main beneficiaries—Israel, Greece, Egypt or Cyprus—in the talks.
The White House said the EastMed pipeline will harm its “climate goals” and escalate tensions in the region without serving viable economic interests, Keep Talking Greece reported.
Erdoğan has opposed the EastMed pipeline because he claims that it travels through Turkish waters and that the Mediterranean’s natural resources belong, in part, to Turkey.
Several commentators have noted that the Biden administration’s decision undercuts European options for natural gas procurement while further empowering Russia.
The EastMed pipeline, with an estimated completion date of 2025, could have supplied 10 percent of Europe’s demand for natural gas. read more h/t joe6pak

I was thinking the same thing when Biden was talking all bad about him killing Nord Stream 2 if Russia invaded. The explanation I read was that he (Biden) could ban American companies from working on the construction. He could also sanction foreign companies that do business here in the US or freeze their bank accounts. Would he do any of this? If it hurts Russia, no, if it hurts Israel, more than likely.
Look at the bright side. Think of the wear and tear that will be saved on our vehicles while they are sitting in the driveway.

Yesterday I got a call from a very small flower shop who was freaked out that her Natural Gas Bill was $480 bucks. Up from about $180 according to her. The Gas Company had said that possibly she has a leak or her equipment needed a tune up. (Lovely gentle man from India at a call centre.)
I told her:
Mam, If you has a leak as big as you think, your building would be a hole in the ground.
If your unit was over-firing you would have had a service call by now, as the unit would have locked out on hi temp or sooted up.
A service call to check would waste about $250 for me to do nothing.
“But Why are my bills so high?” she insisted.
My answer was:
The utility is no longer guessing “low” on consumption estimates and did a real reading now that Covid “Free Money” is no longer paying meter readers to not work. – yes she said
Is there a new carbon tax now? – yes $68 extra
Is gasoline more expensive per litre – Yes she said
Trudeau has cancelled 3 pipelines I said. – I know
