During a bizarre press conference on Wednesday, Joe Biden told reporters that it was worth “looking into” Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s alleged ties to foreign governments, and that his regime has “a lot of ways” of doing that.
A reporter had asked Biden if her thought Musk was a threat to U.S. national security because “the Saudis” have invested in Twitter. Congressional Democrats have been trying to make hay over this issue even though Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal purchased his stake in Twitter long before Musk took control of the company.
Biden gleefully took the bait, replying slowly and haltingly after a long chuckle, “I think … that Elon Musk’s cooperation and/or … technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at.”
Biden told reporters that Musk would be targeted “whether of not he has done anything inappropriate,” and that “it’s worth being looked at.” He added: “And uh, um, and ah, but that’s all I’ll say.” more
