Biden SCOTUS nominee criticized ‘excessiveness’ of sex offender punishments

JTN:

President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, admitted on a questionnaire for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee that she had authored a paper criticizing the “excessiveness” of sex offenders’ punishments, which she said could be “unfair and unnecessarily burdensome.”

Jackson authored “Prevention Versus Punishment: Toward a Principled Distinction in the Restraint of Released Sex Offenders,” which was published anonymously in 1996 by Harvard Law Review. She did not disclose her authorship until the Senate committee asked her to list published writings as part of her nomination. more

  1. The mere fact that sex offenders don’t immediately earn themselves a bullet to the back of the head or get tossed into a woodchipper set on SLOW upon conviction tells me that current sentencing guidelines are — if anything — too lenient.

Given that many victims of sexual assault require corrective surgery to repair the physical damage and a lifetime of counselling to deal with the emotional damage, I’d be hard pressed to come up with a punishment that I considered to be “unfair and unnecessarily burdensome”.

  2. I don’t understand why the confirmation process involves so much discussion about her competence as a jurist and her past decisions. She was nominated because she is a black, excuse me, Black female. Stick to the important issues. Is she Black enough? Does she identify as a female? Is James Brown the king of soul? What is a deuce and a quarter?

  3. Nominate and install any rabid, tuberculoid dog you choose.
Just promise to seal them all in one chamber so they can defile themselves.

  4. I pretty much agree with the comments here, but then again, some charged and convicted of sex offenses were not guilty. Oh they did the deed, its just that the metoo movement along with lying little girls that would blame the boy instead of being grounded by her daddy resulted in a ruined life. What did the last confirmation of a male justice produce? “Believe all women!”

  5. In other words, because half the rapes in the US are committed by the darkees, then any just punishment one receives for raping a white person must be, by definition, “excessive”. Since crackers deserve it for slavery & shit.
