Bill Clinton Told Donors The Border Won’t Be Secure ‘For A Very Long Time’

DC: Former president Bill Clinton told Democratic donors at a private fundraiser that America’s borders will remain porous “for a very long time,” according to a leaked transcript from the event.

The November 2015 fundraiser took place at the New York home of former U.S. ambassador to the Slovak Republic Carl Spielvogal, a longtime Clinton donor. The transcript from the fundraiser was included among thousands of emails sent and received by Clinton campaign chair John Podesta published by WikiLeaks.

At the fundraiser, the former president claimed that America’s “borders are going to look more like nets than walls for a very long time.”

“I believe that the central responsibility of every citizen of every country is to find whatever way we can to build up positive and reduce the negative forces of our interdependence. Because whether we like it or not, we are doomed to share the future,” Clinton said. “Whether we like it or not, borders are going to look more like nets than walls for a very long time.”  more here

  1. He has something of a point. We’ve been talking about a wall, a fence, along our southern border. But nobody seems to remember that our southern border includes the gulf shores of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. How are we going to control access from the Gulf of Mexico? And then we can start talking about the Atlantic and Pacific coastlines, and I don’t want to think about Alaska. At least Hawaii is sufficiently isolated it isn’t likely to be a target for immigration lawbreakers.

  2. Uncle Al, Ya know in 1942 we had a coast watch that was pretty damn successful. We don’t need the wall. We just need the autherzation to shoot them when we see them. Does that sound far fetched? Consider this, they caught a shit load of young adult male Muzzies trying to cross the boarder this week end. Who do you think they were? I’m sure Obama personally escorted them into the country.

  3. @Brad – You’re quite right of course about 1942 but I don’t see that happening in our era, even with a Trump administration. Without a declared war, a resurrection of conscription (draft) law, the manpower costs for a coastal watch…I’m afraid to even begin a pencil and paper estimate. It would take volunteers, but they would also have to be sworn to some sort of service to be able to use force without being ensnared by the legal system.

The good news is that technology might make the manpower requirements very much smaller…but the equipment costs very much higher. It would not be that hard to take the monitoring gear away from the damned drug warriors and put it to better use, but you’d also have to take away their boats and planes.

I dunno. Maybe do-able, but it would be a mighty big task in a divided country with a big chunk happy to suck on the govt teat and return nothing of value.

  4. Uncle Al, As you know I think you’re one of the smartest guys here. I circulate in different world and I can tell you with great certainty we can cover our coast with Militia members and X Mil.
