Black Ivy League professor: ‘I would much rather my children interact with drugs than with police’

College Fix: “I would much rather my own children interact with drugs than with the police.”

That statement comes from Columbia University Professor Carl Hart in a recent Washington Post op-ed that he penned arguing “the killing of black people by the police has been on a regular schedule.”

Psychology Professor Hart writes that drug effects are “predictable,” but encounters with police “often” end with dead black people.

Dr. Hart, the first black professor tenured in the natural sciences at Columbia University, teaches a psychology course titled “Drugs and Behavior,” and is known for his research in narcotics and drug addiction – both from a scholarly angle as well as personal experience.

“I speak candidly about my past and who I am,” Hart writes in the op-ed. “In fact, ‘High Price,’ my science memoir, is one of the required readings for [my] course. In it, I detail my imperfections and past drug use and sales. I also lay out a blueprint for how one can succeed as a scientist and academic in a world that despises one’s people.”  MORE

SNIP: I think those people are killing themselves efficiently enough without any p0lice help.

You’re barking up the wrong tree, Carl.

  2. “Dr. Hart, the first black professor tenured in the natural sciences at Columbia University,… “I speak candidly about my past and who I am,… my imperfections and past drug use and sales.”

Remember when the sexual deviants and drug addicts where the students? I guess they all become tenured professors.

  3. I have a brother that is proud of his weaknesses and holds them up as a badge of honor. Then he tells me I’m an ignorant, intolerant, ass. I know it’s hard to imagine, but he is a lib. A lib of the academic, elitist type.

  4. This idiot is advocating for poisoning his children and society over those who protect society. Sadly, I don’t think he is joking just to make his point. He should take time off and do a sabbatical to the Philippines.

  5. Will he accept any responsibility when his kids OD and die? If that happens he will loudly blame some one or something else. It’s hard to believe any one thinks the effects of drugs are ‘predictable’. Did he do his research while stoned?

  6. Cato, I’m curious, in changing his outlook did he feel that union movement that he was involved with was the wrong direction for the country or just wrong for him? My mom (80 years old, still healthy) is starting to question the validity of her liberal thinking but can’t quite get to the point of renouncing it. It is weighing on her sometimes, and she says she is glad she won’t live long enough to see the worst that has yet to come.

  7. The only thing lacking in his “research” is any valid proof from which to draw or infer the thesis statement.

Just sounds like another lib, with no morals, ethics, standards, or Creator.

  8. His book is required reading so he can make extra money off the students and make it look like someone GAF about the crap he wrote. Otherwise, no one but his mother would have read it, and even that is not likely.
