I adored going to Sambos for pancakes and perusing the murals on the walls. For a kid in the 70s before all the technology ruined our imaginations it was magical
Most of the Sambos became Denny’s. Sambos was famous for all you can drink for .25 unlimited refill of coffee back in the 70’s. I made the mistake of drinking about 20 cups of coffee for a quarter one night with a group of friends after a church Bible study. It was a cheap place to go back then which was good because most of us were poor broke college students. I was wired to the max and stayed awake all night and peeing about once an hour or more, I never did that again. When you’re 23 you can do a lot of things like that which I wouldn’t be caught dead doing now.
