Newly released police bodycam footage captures the dramatic arrest of Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele, a prominent Democrat, who crashed into two cars while allegedly driving under the influence earlier this month.

The video, obtained by elections consultant Frank Calabrese, shows Steele invoking her status as an “elected official” during a tense standoff with officers before being arrested on Chicago’s North Side.

The footage reveals a chaotic scene as officers repeatedly requested Steele to exit her vehicle after the November 10 incident. Steele, 37, initially refused to comply, stating, “I’m an elected official,” and demanded to wait for her attorney. Officers explained that she needed to cooperate due to the severity of the situation, citing her involvement in a crash and her apparent intoxication. more

  1. I may have been invited to exit my vehicle a time or two when I was younger, and while it may be a memory issue, I do not recall the police being nearly so patient.

  2. As I exited the vehicle -being experienced in how police dealt with recalcitrants in those days I wasn’t arguing- the drinker’s nemesis, a phantom blockage, hit one foot and I went down in a heap. The officer said, incredulous, ‘Why are you driving?” I responded “Well, as you can see, I can’t very well walk!” He gave me a lift to the station.

  3. “Is your penis that small?” No lady I think it’s more of a case of that gaping hole between your legs is that stretched out. what have you been shoving on that thing anyway.

Actual conversation. And I was the bad guy for pointing out her potential problem. You can’t win.
