Boy, 2018 must be a letdown to the writers of Star Trek – IOTW Report

Boy, 2018 must be a letdown to the writers of Star Trek

Patriot Retort: This weekend, I started to binge-watch the original Star Trek series.

Sure, it’s campy and most of the acting is like a Sci-Fi soap opera.

But Star Trek was a fave of mine as a kid, so it has nostalgic significance to me.

Plus, I tend to talk at the screen like one of the robots from Mystery Science Theater 3000.

But after the mob-led free-for-all leading up to Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, I really needed a mindless escape.

And last night one of the episodes I watched was “Space Seed.”  MORE HERE

  1. 49 years ago, we were on track. We were putting men on the Moon. Now, we have PhDs arguing that there are more than two sexes in the human species.

The progs fucked up our Star Trek future. Now, our future will probably be more like The Wicca Man.

  2. Dianny — Is it true that you either love Startrek or you hate it? ‘Cause I can’t stand Startrek. I couldn’t stand that tweeting sound every time someone used their flip phone (or whatever that was they were communicating on). And I especially could not stand everyone fake rolling around or resisting G forces.

I was a Wild Wild West, Mission (Highly Improbable), and 12 O’Clock High fan. Oh, and Rat Patrol. Real men don’t wear unisex uniforms. LOL!

(Nonetheless, I’m very glad you had a fav show to watch during last week’s Kavanaugh ordeal.)

  3. @JET JAGUAR: But we do have Velcro shoes which are a lot easier to put on and don’t come loose. Apparently Velcro shoes can’t get much traction because far too many people think they’re exclusively for old people.

  4. AbigailAdams –

    Yes…nice list.

Tho, I’m into Gunsmoke now….manly men killing and fighting. Matt is a stud…and a young Miss Kitty is easy on the eyes.

With various channels…it’s on 9 hrs a day.

Sure would like to see some Rat Patrol.

  6. They need to show Combat more often, along with The Naked City one of my favorite cop dramas, Wanted Dead Or Alive with Steve McQueen, Wild Wild West, the original Hawaii Five-O with Jack Lord, the Inspiration channel is doing a good job running a lot of the earlier B&W episodes of Gunsmoke from the early to the mid 60’s (I like William Conrad better as Marshall Dillon on the radio, he’s more of a bad ass but the early James Arness was quite good too and who doesn’t like the evolving of Ken Curtis’s character Festus Haygen and Burt Reynolds character Quint Asper the half breed Commanche Indian), Maverick with James Garner, Rawhide with Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates etc. and all the rest of the good stuff. I wasn’t an initial fan of Star Trek because NBC had canceled The Man From Uncle to replace it with Star Trek. And The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan one of my all time favorite BBC programs which I will still watch anytime it airs on TV.

  7. The first episode of PBS’s Mystery with the Harpy is very good, it’s what got me hooked on watching it. And Rumpole of the Bailey with Leo McKern and his wife “She who must be obeyed.”
