Bring it on! Trump and California Governor Newsom battle over California’s homeless crisis

American Thinker:

By Thomas Lifson

California is now a national laughingstock. It’s one-party state government, totally dominated by Democrats, has so badly bungled its treatment of homelessness (not to mention its stratospheric taxes) that its major cities are becoming unlivable, notorious for sidewalks covered in excrement, open drug use by people swarming over parks, sidewalks and spare plots of land under freeway overpasses, and taxpayers fleeing. A huge portion of Californians are actively considering leaving (one in four of the total population; 82% of 18 to 19 year olds), as poignant an index of government failure as can be imagined, short of anarchy or genocide.

Gavin Newsom, the governor, once was considered a potential future president, despite his despicable personal history (having seduced the wife of one of his best friends), but the crisis on his watch is making that a pipedream now. So what does he do? You probably already have guessed the of course, he blames Trump! Leah Barkoukis reports:

The Office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom touted its efforts in combating the homeless crisis in the state and took shots at the Trump administration even as federal data shows it is responsible for the uptick in the U.S.’s overall homeless population.  read more

  1. A few days ago on Quora, I think it was, someone mentioned how good California was because they had a “bipartisan” board to draw district as opposed to the party in power gerrymandering them, and how the “top row” primary system made things so much better.

I asked who picked who was on this “bipartisan” board, and how was having the primary system turning the state into a virtual single party state making things better.

    I received no reply.

  2. That 82% value is incorrect, the LA Times article says that 82% of 18-29 year olds cited housing cost as a factor, not that such a high percentage is considering leaving.
I am working on leaving. It is a recent decision and I have some things to extract myself from so it will be summer at the earliest, but I already have a trip planned to Colorado a month from now and figuring on visiting the Carolinas in March or April. I can rent an amazing place for what I am currently paying for a roomy 1-bedroom. But more than the taxes it is some recently enacted laws that are really pushing me out.

  3. When I was born there were only 48 stars on the American flag. I would be happy to return to that number. Or even less. 30ish sounds about right.
But I’ll have to leave beautiful Virginia….unless REAL Virginians begin to fight back.

Like January 20 on the steps of the Capitol steps on Lobby Day.

When government says you don’t need a gun….
    You need a gun.

  4. Libs distance themselves so far from the facts it is impossible to have a sane conversation.

In fact, the only way to have a conversation with a liberal is if you totally agree with them.

And that damn sure leaves me out.

  5. Twenty years ago, if you got the smartest minds in the Country together and wrote up a road map on how to destroy the greatest state in the Union it would be what the communist assholes have done to this state. Step by step. I can’t name one bit of legislation that would be a positive. And don’t blame the voters. The elections have been fixed for a long time. All Fortified by the old 9th.
Newson is well handled. He has to be. He’s dumber than a box of rocks.

  6. @Cynic – CO went Hillary, but if you add the Libertarian votes it would have gone Trump. So it’s purple, although a lot of liberal Californians are moving there. The main advantages it has for me are proximity to CA (I will be visiting often) and friends in the area. I have been looking at Wilmington NC, which is on the coast (hard for me to leave the ocean behind) and also has an international airport. We shall see. I can move anywhere, but I want to stay in a fairly temperate weather zone.

BUSH DID US NO GOOD, THE JUG-EARED 2 LB DUMBBELL WORE OUT THE WELCOME, AND THE 2020 COMEUPPANCE IS INBOUND!!

  8. I too am looking at the Carolinas, but it would have to be far western Carolinas or eastern Tennessee. Liberals have infected everything eastward. Was just out there this past spring on a motorcycle trip. I’m done with Northern Illinois. Currently in so cal visiting inlaws. This place is like jail to me.

  9. Anonymous Eric, one problem with your stay away from the coast declaration is that it’s damn tough to get fresh salmon (or any fresh saltwater fish) in Wyoming. For some of us that’s an issue.

  10. LCD, I moved to CO and you can’t tell any difference between it and CA. There are some libertarians but the panzies run everything. You will gain nothing and have cold winters to put up with. After a few falls on the ice and sliding your car on “black ice”, you’ll be wishing for a warmer climate. And the people are pretty much californicated.
