California Approves Orange County Mobile Needle Exchange Program

KFI: The California Department of Public Health approved a widely opposed mobile needle exchange program this week.

The Orange County Needle Exchange Program will operate for two years starting Monday, Aug. 6, according to the department.

According to supporters, the program helps reduce the spread of diseases such as HIV and hepatitis C, and are some of the only ways drug users have contact with health care professionals.

Four main cities affected by this new program: Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Orange and Santa Ana all posed objections and state health officials responded by limiting the times it could operate to three- or four-hour blocks on two days a week in each city.

Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do said he might seek legal action to block the program. more

  1. Loco- I agree with you

“According to supporters, the program helps reduce the spread of diseases…”
No it won’t, if they toss their syringes on the sidewalk. There are more people dying from drugs in california than from guns. Micorstamp the syringes and then they’ll know who to call to pick them up or sue. Hell, microstamp the damn users. Oh, wait, macro stamp them.

  2. This is “enabling” of the drug users. Stop wasting people’s money to enable drug use. I’m not too sympathetic to the junkie who gets Hepatitis or AIDS from risky behavior.

  3. So, instead of moving away from public policies that leads to human excrement on every city block of San Fran Orange County is embarrassing those policies.

Maybe the only way to get CA to enforce drug laws if for the Federal Gov to mandate that all syringes be made of plastic. The grand-maul fit that would throw your average libard into as they try to figure out which is the greater good would be priceless.

Again, I ask- when will they start this civil war so we can get it over with?

  4. Why stop with needles? Give them free heroin. In fact, give them all the heroin they want at a Mobile All You Can Shoot Up Heroin Truck. Since they have no self control the problem will take care of itself.

  5. Once you cross over that obvious line between common sense policies and insanity there is no limit to the insanity that will ensue. It would not surprise me if they started offering state-supplied smack to elementary school kids. It would not surprise me one bit.

  6. So if you drink diet soda with a plastic straw you can be arrested and sent to jail but if you shoot heroin with a needle they will give you free plastic syringes???

    ..
    gotta love California stupidity
