California City Bans All Tobacco and E-Cigarette Sales – Except for the Super-Rich

Godfather Politics: A city in left-wing California aims to become the first city in U.S. history to ban the sale of all tobacco products everywhere. Unless you are rich enough to join an exclusive cigar lounge.

Beverly Hills, California, is about to become the first city to ban the sale of tobacco products with an exception that would allow posh cigar lounges to remain in business, according to The Blaze.

The ordinance was passed by the city council on Tuesday to ban all sales of tobacco and e-cigarettes at all retailers.

“We are a city that has taken the lead on restricting smoking and promoting public health,” Mayor John Mirisch said in a statement. “Somebody has to be first, so let it be us.”

A final vote is set for June 4and if approved will take effect in 2021.

However, the exception is amusing for its blatant “privilege.”    more here

  1. “How about marijuana? Is that banned too?”

…probably NOT, @Tony Я, because the liberals need you to smoke a LOT of pot so you can stay mellow and think their bullshit makes sense…

  2. …also, they want you to sign that “medical marajuana” card so they have a REASON to have the Federal Govenment deny you the right to purchase a firearm…

  3. Well I’m sure they feel morally superior and better than thou now that they are in total control of the situation…
Remember when hypocrites said “Oh, we would never do that!”

  4. Many small shops and businesses will suffer greatly by the loss of revenue yet will never be given any break or compensation for that loss.
The intrusive policies will have {intended} unintended consequences that’ll need to be addressed by these same idiots who’ll issue more tax levies to compensate. See how that works?

  5. “Do you mind not smoking?”

Think they’ll put any efforts into stopping perversion and the illegal-alien rat infestation?

I’m considering setting up a pistol range/cigar lounge down by the creek – maybe have a couple of poker tables – probably illegal.

  6. Well that’s going to set Meathead off. That tabacky tax of his was suppose to go for children’s health care. Poor darlings. One good thing might come out of it, cigar butts will disappear off the streets. The down and out likes to pick them up and smoke the filter too. Win-win!

n 1998, Reiner chaired the campaign to pass Prop 10, the California Children and Families Initiative, which created First 5 California, a program of early childhood development services, funded by a tax on tobacco products. He served as the first chairman of First 5 California, from 1999 to 2006. Reiner came under criticism for campaigning for a ballot measure (Prop 82) to fund state-run preschools while still chair of the First Five Commission, causing him to resign from his position on March 29, 2006. An audit was conducted, and it concluded that the state commission did not violate state law and that it had clear legal authority to conduct its public advertising campaigns related to preschool. In the end, Prop 82 failed to win approval, garnering only 39.1% support.
