Firefighters battling a blaze at a Southern California strip mall discovered an illegal marijuana growing operation inside the complex, authorities said Tuesday.

Crews arriving late Monday found heavy smoke at the shopping center in Anaheim, said Sgt. Shane Carringer with the city’s police department.

Parts of the roof ended up collapsing, Carringer told the Orange County Register. No injuries were reported. A neighboring apartment complex was evacuated briefly because of the blowing smoke, he said. read more

CINCINNATI — The owner of a suburban Cincinnati home where two firefighters died in a fire early this month pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of cultivation of marijuana.

Matthew Cones, 33, entered the plea in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. He was charged several days after the April 4 fire that started in the basement of his home. Colerain Township Fire Capt. Robin Broxterman, 37, and firefighter Brian Schira, 29, died.

Authorities said they found five marijuana plants in Cones’ basement, but prosecutors said the alleged marijuana growing operation had nothing to do with the fire that destroyed the two-story home.

The fire was caused by an apparent electrical short in a small fan in a cedar closet where orchids were being grown, prosecutors said.”

…yeah, fuck your “orchids”, buddy. Two heroes’s families lost another New Year’s with them yesterday for your toking pleasure.

Sorry, I’ve seen so much STUPID, STUPID death from people seeking, getting, or being drunk or high or tweaked or whatever the fuck you want to call it, that I have ZERO patience with the shit. I would not be opposed to summary death penalty for drug dealers, and if your stupid crap CAUSES a death, you should be pulled apart by horses running in four different directions.

…sadly, I know this will not deter most addicts, especially herion addicts. They do. Not. Care. But, if you dispose of the ones causing the IMMEDIATE problem, at least THEY won’t be back, just sayin’…

…ok, rant over, now back to your Happy New Year.

  2. @TonyR: TPTB can’t figure out how to stop the marijuana black market here in California. With weed dispensaries taking in a high taxed product, the black market will put them out of business. It’s cheaper to buy it on the black market than from a legal dispensary. Same almost with the gas tax here. People who live near Indian casinos who have gas stations don’t pay that 13 cent gas tax because the Indian reservations are a sovereign nation on their own and don’t have to adhere to those types of taxes. Goes for cigs to. Let’s see if the Indians get in on the pot sales. There’s illegal grows every where here. Some of our recent forest fires were caused by pot growers.
