California is Burning Because of DEI & Bad Policy

Viva Frei has the run-down on what and who are to blame.

  1. Codswallop.
California is burning for host of reasons, chief among them there are 60MPH Santa Ana winds, 2 years’ growth of brush and deadwood from a couple of record wet years, and the humidity is 10%, in canyons that have gone up in flames every couple of years since Noah was in diapers. And most of the areas that should be cleared or control-burned directly adjacent to the worst fires are federal land, over which no one in Calilfornia has any control.

Of the 57 direct causes, DEI amounts to 0.1%. Bad policy to maybe 10%. The rest is anything but. And most of the “bad policy” involves letting entitled idiots build homes on that land in the first place, knowing they’re going to burn rather regularly.

But that’s the difference between living here for decades and knowing what I’m talking about firsthand, versus bloviating from afar with an axe to grind. Just because you have a hammer, it doesn’t make everything else a nail. DEI is incredibly stupid. So is far too much of the governmental stupidity in Califrutopia. Neither one, nor both combined, however, are most of the reason for everything evil coming to pass. But the primary reasons aren’t hard to suss out, once people stop knee-jerking their pet causes.

  2. Blame elected and appointed officials all you want, and they deserve it. But, how exactly is it that these total incompetents are in those positions to begin with?

Hmmmm…. Maybe this dynamic might have something to do with it. It is not unique to this particular incompetent in this particular situation either.

“The March 16 Angus Reid Institute numbers show quite clearly that men favour Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, while women favour Trudeau. Among voters aged 35 to 54, a blowout 47 per cent of the men preferred Poilievre (against 28 per cent for Trudeau). While among women, those numbers flipped to 39 for Trudeau and 27 for Poilievre.”

  3. “I do not care how many people lose homes in Los Angeles. Especially in Pacific Palisades, or Malibu, or Santa Monica. Because I’ve lived in LA, I’ve been to those areas, and I know without a single doubt that damn near every single person living there, with a few exceptions here and there, voted for Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. They voted for the people who defunded the fire department. They voted for the people who fired the firefighters who refused to get the jab. They voted for the governor and his cronies who refused to fill the reservoirs. They voted for DEI instead of competence, they voted for Marxism instead of something that actually works, they voted for all of this. They voted for the regulations that prevented the fire base from being cut back. They voted for the empty fire hydrants.”
