California’s Proposals to ban internal combustion engines

CPR: The latest battle in Sacramento’s war on California’s middle class is the push to ban the internal combustion engine.

Luckily, the effort has stalled.

The legislation that would have imposed the ban, Assembly Bill 1745, died last month, but bad ideas in California have a way of recurring like nightmares. We will see this proposal again, either as legislation next year or perhaps even as a ballot initiative. A number of so-called progressive candidates on the ballot this year have publicly stated they embrace this foolish idea.

The bill that was stopped, AB1745, would have prohibited the Department of Motor Vehicles from registering a new vehicle unless it was a zero emissions vehicle, beginning on January 1, 2040. Under the proposed law, a new car with an internal combustion engine could not legally be driven in California after that date. read more

  1. Have these imbeciles given any thought about jet engines being internal combustion?….Plane travel to California would be over/dead?….the military can’t be stationed there for national security….It’s mesmerizing retardation….

  2. This just in…
California legislators, in an attempt to further the green energy agenda have Mandated that whenever there is no wind to power turbines, locals can be pressed into service, manually operating the turbine with ‘shoulder power’ using ropes and pulleys, until the wind picks up again.
In a side note: Only White, Middle Class Cis-gendered gun owners will be pressed into service, due to their European Oppressor Histories

  3. Of course they’ve set the law NOT to take effect until 22 years after it passes (if it does), so that the ones who passed it will be out of office (not responsible), and the ones who have to enforce it, didn’t pass it (not responsible).

  4. Here in South Portland, ME the City Council created a Sustainability Coordinator position. It’s only part time…for now.
She is getting together with Portland’s and they are spending about $225,000 to figure out how to make the tides stop rising in the harbor and what to do about “climate change”.
This woman has a Russian History degree and what amounts to a SJW degree from some small college. Her plan is to ween the entire city of 23,000 people off fossil fuels. That includes how we heat our homes and the vehicles we drive.
She already got the City Council to ban pesticides that are not organic. (Talk about unenforceable) and bags at the stores are .05 ea.
So yes @willysgoatgruff, people can be that stupid.

  5. Where did you think Cal was going when we set those outlandish emission standards? Like the left’s attacks on the Constitution; there were clear warnings, their lies of denial to the contrary!

  6. PS
When I said the left I meant THE UNIPARTY! Those outlandish standards would never have happened had the GOP fought! Not a fans fight; a real blood letting fight! The Cal GOP are either:
    Cowards

    or

    Leftists

There is no other REASONABLE explanation.

  7. Leftists primping and preening before a rose colored mirror. Their ideas don’t have to be practical or achievable. Nor do they have to be implemented.

Just saying the words make them good people.

Go get earth friendly, California. Turn yourselves into compost.

  9. What’s with the baby steps? If they think it’s a good idea for 2040, just start with the people that like this idea now, make it mandatory for the true believers.
