Canada: Police found a human placenta in an Ontario park

It turns out it was just part of a ‘holistic’ ritual.

National Post: Placenta burials just one of the bizarre things some women are doing with their afterbirth.

An Ontario mother who dumped her bloodied placenta in a public park was just practising a “holistic” ritual to mark her child’s first birthday, police say.

While hospitals consider placentas medical “waste,” in some home birth practises the organ is considered special and “spiritual,” scholars say. Popular rituals include burying it under a favourite plant, tree or shrub, or eating it — a practice that comes with risks to mothers and their babies, and that some doctors have said borders on cannibalism.

On Tuesday, Peel Regional Police issued an alert appealing for the public’s help finding a woman and child “in possible medical distress” after a man walking his dog in Sugar Maple Woods park in Mississauga found a placenta and umbilical cord, with what appeared to be forceps and clamps attached to it, in bushes about three metres off a pathway.

The placenta appeared fresh.

  1. I chummed/trolled for big Mackinaw lake trout with a goat placenta in a fishing net on a 14 foot boat with low sideboards…..something huge swirled and caused about a six inch wake behind my boat….

  2. can’t you get fetal embryo stem cell tissue from placentas?

… I mean, after all, weren’t those cells supposed to cure everything from genital herpes to cancer to homosexual flatulence?

  3. You get a sick thrill out of grossing me out, don’t you MJA? You twisted freak! I mean, eating placenta is perfectly fine if fresh and sautéed with onions, sage and maybe some saffron. But harvesting it in a park without refrigeration or an expiration date? That could be as deadly as romaine lettuce with a Mexican turd in it.

    Have you no shame?

  4. I remember a few years back reading about women not only having midwives but some other kind of person that I can’t remember the name for that come in and cook their placenta or make a placenta tea for them to drink.
I actually had someone get offended when the story was on a blog and I said these people were sick in the head. Their argument as to why they weren’t sick in the head was because animals eat their afterbirth because of the nourishment it provides the body. Yep, that they do because they’re animals and maybe there is some nourishment, hell if I know, but the main reason they do it is because in the wild afterbirth smells of blood, blood brings in predators. God made us humans for a reason and it’s not so we can be like an animal. That was really offensive for some damn reason.

My biggest dream is that one day before I die I can wake up in a world that is sane again.

  5. Wasn’t nuttier than squirrel shit Chrissy Teigen on tv recently asking her interviewer if she wanted to eat some of her placenta because she claimed it cured her post-partum depression?

And this is different from cannibalism how exactly? Not to mention her new line of cookware and a book called Cravings.

She should never live that down. Some Saturn Devouring His Son meets non-stick skillet available at tranny loving Target. Pie faced savage.
