A cannibal in Connecticut has been granted conditional release from a psychiatric hospital after brutally killing a man with an axe, eating one of his eyeballs, and part of his brain.
Tyree Smith had been found “Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity” in 2013 and sent to Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown for “up to 60 years” for the murder and cannibalism of 43-year-old Angel Gonzalez.
Smith was diagnosed with schizophrenia and had been abusing drugs and alcohol at the time of the murder. more here

Walking downtown Seattle yesterday and a guy who was obviously in the throes of a drug-induced high, was running out in traffic (pants around his knees), squatting and writhing on the sidewalk. Scared me as I had to get past him. It’s like walking past an alpha predator in the wild. You cannot trust what can happen next with these people. God help you if they decide you’re a lethal threat to them in their screwed-up minds. Can’t help but think of all those attack incidents in the U.K. and around the U.S.
We saw the same guy several blocks from there as we were going home. Apparently no one called the police or an aid unit. I should have. It’s a big part of the problem.
