KFI: An Indiana man is warning others about a large spider after finding and capturing one on a boat.
Jacob Collins discovered a fishing spider while he and his coworkers were building a boat. Experts say fishing spiders are similar to wolf spiders in size and appearance. Collins posted a picture of the eight-legged beast on Facebook with the caption: “they found this giant beast on a boat at work today. Beware all Elkhart (County) residents. They are out there and they are real.” Go see
OMG my worst nightmare!!! I thought the no seeums and the darn black biting flies were bad when the wind died, but not this!!!
Looks like a good Spinner Bait.
Can’t get past terminal buffer to know what the beast looks like, but I’m in FL so not much impresses me as pertains to arachnids. The only one of concern is the Brown Recluse.
Not sure why he released it back into the wild. I love animals, but can’t get emotional over a spider. I do run into the occasional Palmetto in my garage. They’re the size of a VW bus. I just smash it with a shoe (my husbands of course) as a warning to others.
If it isn’t poisonous it’s just a big bug.
Granted, I had an episode when I was a kid that had me terrified of spiders for a while.
3 Different spinners. . . I mean Spiders.

Here’s more info on the Fishing Spider, along with nice pics of this creature, info about it, and it’s habitat range.

My initial reaction- “Oh, HELL no!”
Upon further reflection- Maybe better than a Camel Spider. Barely.
Kill it with fire. Lots of fire.
It’s the only was to be sure.
I don’t like spiders. But my cat does.
He hunts them down and eats them.
Which reminds me:

FISHING SPIDER:
THREAT OR MENACE?
I used to have a “pet” wolf spider on my back porch. He had his tunnel web in the corner near the door and when I went out to garden, I’d bring back a bug from whatever plant they were eating. I’d drop it on the edge of the web and watch him dash out and carry it down the tunnel. I’d think, with a satisfying hrumph, “That’s for eating my tomatoes!”
The fishing spider … not so much. I’m afraid it would eat the birds in my back yard!
OMG! I hate spiders. Many years ago, I worked at a warehouse where Wolf spiders liked hidding in the boxes. One day, while I was picking and packing and order, I thought a co-worker was playing a prank on me with a rubber spider,(as he had before). I yelled at him to stop it, but realized he was clear across the warehouse I looked down at my arm and that damn spider was making good time crawling up it. I about screamed the place down.
‘Released back into the wild’…thanks for that.
Cool spider!
When I first saw the picture of the spider in a plastic bag, I thought it was in a BREAST IMPLANT!
The ones that hide in breast implants are Titrantulas.

“Never more will he crawl ’round,
he’s embedded in the ground.”
(And good riddance, too.)
@Wayne
Hahaha! Good one!

I had a similar reaction when, at age 10, a stick insect climbed up my leg. I had never heard or seen such a thing before and it scared the bejeebies out of me. The thing was pretty big.
My older brother gave me hell for being scared of it.
*Looking online for flamethrowers just in case it migrates south.* :O
