CDC warning: Deer with tuberculosis can pass it on to people.
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning hunters that deer carrying tuberculosis can transmit the disease to humans.
According to the CDC, the report stems from a 2017 Michigan case where a 77-year-old regular hunter who had no exposure to people or countries with tuberculosis was diagnosed with the disease. more here
I gave up hunting many years ago. A lot of the problems for me was the over baiting of the deer. It was becoming normal to see truckloads of hunters on my way up north hauling large trailers packed with sugar beets, corn and carrots. The deer all congregate to these piles and that led to the uptick in a lot of the problems we’re seeing now. A sick deer would feed from that pile and affect other animals whom also ate from the pile. Never had to bait for a successful hunt in my life. Everybody wants to do things the easy way. Lazy.
Iv’e always been wary of bovine perspiration on their upper lip area…
I do all my hunting at Kroger. It’s way cheaper.
Except ducks. Ducks must DIE!
Stopped hunting 20 yrs ago, back issues, posted lands, and high license fees in NY. Did print out the info for friends who still hunt. Thanks
The front (saliva) end will kill us fast and the back (fart) end will kill us slow. We’re doomed.
Most everything else between the lips and the asshole can be delicious.
I gave up hunting disappointingly early in life… I seem to have acquired that tick-borne food allergy. I can’t digest venison, or even pork these days. But bait? That’s one of the very few California regulations I can understand… I’ve had a “wild” deer nibble on an apple in my hand. No hunting over bait. That’s just pathetic.
We eat deer and elk here. My neighbor cornered me one day and said they have a hard time even paying for hamburger. Yea, so what? Said I. Well when your three and four year olds are walking around the yard, one with a half-pound of jerky and the other gnawing on a side of beef, lording it over us…..
My kids likes them some meat. What can I say. I have a deer made into brats and another made into Italian Sausage every year. I usually get twenty five lbs of summer sausage and fifty of jerky and the rest of the elk in steaks, chops and roasts. Whatever is left is mixed with ground country bacon for burger.
I was riding on Philly’s Market-Frankford El last week and there was a bovine in the seat behind me who must have had TB. She was coughing up a lung on the back of my neck.
I finally mooo-oved to another car. Damn Filthydelphia.
Illegal aliens spread far more TB, and they’re everywhere.
