Breitbart: Chicago’s recently elected mayor, Lori Lightfoot, has fired the Windy City’s top cop, Superintendent Eddie Johnson, over the “intolerable lies” she says he told her about what caused him to be found asleep at the wheel in October.
Lightfoot fired Johnson on Monday despite his announcement late last month that he intended to resign by the end of the year.
Johnson landed in hot water after being found by officers asleep at the wheel of his car on the side of the road on October 17 when police responded to a 911 call at around 12:30 a.m.
Johnson publicly blamed his drowsiness on medication he was taking along with a “few” drinks he had at dinner that night. After the news of the incident broke, the 31-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) announced that he would retire at the end of December. more
31- year veteran cop? Retires at no less than 90% of his highest salary. Tough break.
Eddie was clearly in over his head, and should never have taken the job.
Much like the military, once you get out of field positions the job becomes political more than anything else. Eddie just wasn’t up to it, coping with booze and long hours. Bad decision.
Another bad decision was to try and use the old “medication and few drinks” excuse. If he could have been more original, and stuck to a better lie, he would have gotten away with it.
A cop in Chicago (or anywhere really) can’t win these days. Arrest a criminal and they’re out before you get your paperwork done. If they do get to jail or prison for a reduced to nothing charge, they’ll get super-reduced time served. Back on the street again.
Revolving door ‘justice’ it’s called. It’s really no wonder more bad guys aren’t just shot. It must be frustrating to risk your life to have judges piss it all away.

Johnson must not have been a big LGBT supporter. Lightfoot was probably just looking for any reason to get rid of him and I’m surprised she didn’t let him finish out the year. Democrats always cover for each other no matter their personal differences.

Read Second City Cop blog http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/. He did not have the support of the rank and file. They called him “special Ed” I’m sure there are many sides to his issues but he has been known for undeserved promotions of friends and such and spotty support for the beat cops. And remember when Trump came to town for the police commanders event he refused to attend.
