Climate of hate: Shooting at House GOP baseball practice

Michelle Malkin: Seems like just last month that a college professor was publicly calling for Republicans to be “lined up and shot.”

This morning, we awoke to the news of a horrible shooting at the House GOP’s baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.

Sen. Rand Paul was in the batting cage and described the chaos as Rep. Steve Scalise and several staffers were targeted-

In case you had any doubt this was a politically motivated shooting, Rep. Ron DeSantis recounted that a man asked which party the people on the field belonged to:

  1. The hateful rhetoric from people on the Left/Prog camps needs to be investigated fully. Surely they will find all sorts of connections if they are really interested in doing so.
Bill Ayers and cohorts spring to mind.

  2. I see on Fox the Mueller has expanded his probe to seek out obstruction of justice. “Trump Colluded With Russia” is dead and shall never be spoken of again in the MSM.

These Dems remind me of polar bears stuck on an ice floe, jumping to the next floe as the one under them melts away. Eventually, the Summer sun wll melt them all. One can hope.

  3. did anyone catch Mr. Ryan’s statement? An attack on one is an attack on all!
Truth be told, he wasn’t talking about Americans or even the country. He is referring to the “elites”.

  4. Absolutely right, Sum Random Guy. Just listen to the hearty roar of approval after he says that. We are going to be paying a shit-ton more for their security before we see any tax reform or Obamacare repeal.

You’re probably right. But for you and I I’m not sure that his opinion matters. They’ve been attacking Trump supporters from the beginning of the campaign and we’ve certainly had enough threats made at Trump voters. They’ve called us every name in the book.

  6. I believe in free speech but, there are limitations. Yelling “FIRE” in a crowded movie theater when there is no fire is one such example.
The Leftist media has been screaming something VERY similar for many months now.

  7. Black Lives Matters encouraged violence against police. ANTIFA attacks anyone that disagrees with them and now the Dem rhetoric of resist has spawned this shooter. It’s not surprising we’ve come to this.

  8. Busy day, Travis Air force base is locked down, every ones been told to shelter in place and they’ve closed off the airspace. They’re calling it a “Real World Security Incident”.

  9. Brad (if I may be familiar)
This will no doubt lead to a new Agency. The Congressional Security Force, or sum such alphabet group. By doing so, this will continue to strengthen the legislative dependence on the Fed and diminish our representatives ties to their respective States.
So, as usual they will continue to make decisions based on the needs of D.C. and not the needs of Americans.

  10. it’s ok folks …. Little Paulie & Nan are holding hands & singing ‘Kumbaya’

Congress is one … the dems need the repubs & the repubs need the dems & they’re only out to perpetuate their grip on power

I think I was addressing more how it would affect guys like you and I. Agreed the elites will get a bunch more protection. They could save money and not offer any to the democraps though.
I would also expect to see a push for some of our elected officials to start carrying. Maybe tie it in with the Nation Wide Carry.

  12. Well seeing that the shooter may have asked which party was practicing, gives the Dem’s an Alibi ! Surely any Organized Attempt at Chaos, would’ve had Perfect Details…Right ?

  13. Brad,
They should already carry. As an elected official you are always a target, regardless of side.
Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. My concern is what happens when one of “us” decides we’re “tired of politics” or someone gets dragged out their car at a stoplight just because they have a Trump sticker? You see, those of us who are grounded in the real world and just want to be left alone are the ones who should truly be feared. As Americans, our apathy towards others is our greatest strength, it’s what keeps us rational and level headed. You break that and stuff gets saucy in a bad way.
As many have no doubt posted, this looks like the first shot of Civil War II. All that Berkley stuff was minor scuffles. I’m sure many of you have read “Enemies: Foreign and Domestic”. I shouldn’t have to say more. I’m already flagged typing this much I’m sure.

  14. Tell enough people enough times that the country is under attack by “fascists” (if you don’t think that’s a synonym for “Hitler”, ask one of them to name three fascists), eventually one of them is going to do what he can to save it. There will be more.

  15. Sum Random Guy

I understand your concern. I don’t put political stickers on anything I own for that reason. Best these days to fly under the radar. I don’t view Bezerkly as a Minor scuffle rather the left gaining momentum and emboldening their hatred. Obviously shits gotten a lot more serious than thing were in the 80’s and 90’s. I hope you carry. I hope you practice.

  16. Brad
Thank you for your concern and the same for you.
I learned while holding office that the crazies are real. My Town Justice was one of them. Turns out, denying his reimbursement for a “Judges Training Seminar” sent over the edge enough to flash his pistol in a meeting.

Possibly, I think if you got the NRA, GOA, and Trump behind some sort of qualification process for more advanced training than that that takes place at the local level you might be able to wrap it up in one package. Especially if they could give those individuals more latitude in shoot don’t shoot scenarios. I doubt if any libs would enroll. If you’re a good guy with a gun and concealed you’re a benefit to the community.

  18. Today was an argument ‘for’ gun control. The situation was still fluid when Gov. McAuliffe talked about gun control and then said that it wasn’t the time to bring it up. Okay Dickweed, why did you bring it up?

The officers exhibited excellent ‘gun control’ in taking the S.O.B. out while wounded themselves, while still under fire or at least while the it was still an active shooter situation. Fortunately not life threatening wounds for them, but they continued to engage though wounded and stopped the threat.

Yet again, good guys with guns take out bad guy with gun. Good job officers. Prayers for all involved in their healing.

Officer or citizen, that’s the kind of ‘gun control’ I support. Train. Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice in training makes perfect.
