Climate Related Deaths Down 99.9% Since 1932

Bongino.com:

The Left’s newest Saint, Greta Thunberg, “informed” us during a now famous speech she gave at the U.N. Climate Action Summit in NYC “You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. And yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you.”

She then accused world leaders of doing nothing while “solutions are in sight.”

Speaking of solutions, while the climate is changing, humans are adapting to it. As it turns out, building infrastructure to protect against climate related catastrophes is a heck of a lot easier than altering the world’s temperature through political policies that would require the entire world to sign on. That has been attempted with the Paris Climate Agreement, but even that doesn’t actually bind nations to their pledges to cut carbon emissions.

Meanwhile, adapting to the climate has saved literally millions of lives per year.

  1. What a surprise that the exact thing that tremendously mitigates harm from climate related effects is the same thing that the Left wants to destroy.

Someone high in the Progressive movement must have noticed that oil, coal and gas were improving life for humanity and decided to invent a problem and then come up with a solution that would be impossible to implement but would eliminate cheap abundant energy.

  2. With the planet staring at a possible supernova just tens of light years away, millions of tons of methane hydrate on the continental shelves just waiting for landslides to release that methane into the sea bed and up into the atmosphere, bacterium and viruses constantly crossing species, super-volcanoes overdue for eruption, terrorists with nukes, crazy dictators with nukes, the Han joining up with Ivan, terrorists trying to get their hands on bioweapons and now I get to worry about climate change lunatics developing a pandemic to ‘rid the world of humans’ who are harming the Earth
Greta, enjoy modern civilization while it lasts.
Our history of life on earth has been mostly nasty, brutish and short

  3. Interesting data, clicking through to the original Cato article: https://www.cato.org/blog/one-statistic-climate-catastrophists-dont-want-you-know
I am curious though – most years last century show fewer than 100k climate-related deaths, but there are quite a few years that hit millions although none since the mid-60s. It seems that the huge numbers are anomalies, I bet that each has a unique story that would help to understand the overall picture.

  4. …how ’bout skip the tire and burn the Greta? Since she wants to be St. Pie Face of the Compost Heap anyway, it seems like a little matrydom would be appropriate, and reduce her carbon footprint to O to boot…

“Too bad we have to wait 11 years for all these leftist nut jobs to drop dead from climate change.”

…you’re too late. We all died if a famine brought on by overpopulation 40 years ago.

    …this is just a dream, apparently…

“There is not enough food today”, Ehrlich claimed those decades ago. “How much there will be tomorrow is open to debate. If the optimists are correct, today’s level of misery will be perpetrated for perhaps two decades into the future. If the pessimists are correct, massive famines will occur soon, possibly in the 1970s, certainly by the 1980s. So far most of the evidence seems to be on the side of the pessimists, and we should plan on the assumption that they are correct.”

  6. …but we couldn’t have died of famine in the ’80s because we all froze to death in the ’70s, so THAT was a dream, TOO…

“As one government scientist concludes according to this 1970 article in the St. Petersburg Times, “doubling CO2 in the atmosphere…would raise surface temperatures by 3.6 Fahrenheit and [here’s the kicker] cool the lower stratosphere some 27 degrees.” ”
