The latest cable TV news ratings are out and the news is grim for CNN and MSNBC.
Fox News topped MSNBC and CNN combined in the cable news ratings race for the month of October, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Overall, Fox averaged 2.8 million total viewers in prime time, up 25 percent from October 2017. MSNBC placed second in the category, with 1.58 million viewers, while CNN finished third, with 931,000 viewers, during the time period.
In the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic advertisers covet most, CNN fared better than MSNBC, averaging 290,000 viewers to 281,000. Fox News won that category with 540,000 viewers.
The top programs in cable news for October were Fox News’s “Hannity,” with an average of 3.5 million viewers; “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” with 3.23 million; “The Ingraham Angle,” with 2.97 million; “The Five,” with 2.84 million; and “Special Report with Bret Baier,” with 2,668,000.
MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” finished sixth in cable news as that network’s highest-rated program. Overall, MSNBC finished fourth in basic cable behind Fox News, TBS and ESPN.

CNN an unbiased news source? That depends on what the meaning of “news source” is. Evidently CNN has made up a definition nobody else uses, and they refuse to tell us what it is.

CNN did not fail at being the anti Trump network. They executed it to perfection.
If they wanted a network that people would actually watch, by that measure they failed miserably.

Well, from a different POV – CNN has been hugely successful at self-flushing. Perhaps enough to disappear from public tv screens.
I know one dumb sob that watches cnn. I told him he needs to use other news sources. He says that he does. He hits msnbc and the networks. Lol.
I have to deal with this f-er for an hour or two every couple weeks. Damn. What a nutso sob.
This last week I’m thinking he is near the end of his rope. His lips tremble when he speaks of ‘current events’ and stares off to nowhere for several moments. I think he in to a deep depression. He may not make it thru nov at this rate.

CNN succeeded as an anti-Trump network (they’re 100% anti-Trump with no hope of recovery), but failed as a profitable business model.
