Colorado Voters Approve Excise Tax on Their Guns and Ammunition

Breitbart: Just over 54 percent of Colorado voters approved on Tuesday Proposition KK, which contains an excise tax on the in-state sale of guns and ammunition.

CBS News reported that roughly 1.3 million Colorado voters supported the proposition, while 1.1 million opposed it.

The approved tax is 6.5 percent, which means the price of $400 firearm will rise $26 and the price of a $1,000 firearm will increase by $65 because of the new tax.

MSN noted that the passage of Proposition KK makes Colorado the second state to place a tax on the tools of the Second Amendment. California adopted a similar, albeit higher, excise tax that took effect July 1, 2024.

CBS News pointed out that gun rights advocates fought against the tax, arguing that “law-abiding gun owners shouldn’t have to pay more than they already are.” They also noted that the tax will cause Colorado businesses to lose revenue, because many Coloradans will now purchase guns and ammunition out of state to avoid the tax.

  1. They did the same thing in California and created a huge black market. I have an 007 FFL so it doesn’t impact me. But all my friends drive to Reno and stock up. They take the back roads home so they don’t set off the gun powder sniffers at the check points.

I have been referring to anyone who supports or even casts a legitimate vote for any Democrat as a progressive/Marxist/Satanist and the progressive/Marxist/Satanists respond by proving that you ain’t seen nothing yet, hold my beer while I show you just how loyal I am to my dark Prince. When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time. Progressive/Marxist/Satanist’s actions tell you exactly what they are and who they worship.

  5. The vote tally was probably manipulated.
It’s possible that CO is a little over half full of imbeciles, but it seems unlikely.
ANYONE who votes to raise taxes is a fool. PERIOD.

  6. Amendment II
“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
    (US Constitution)

No mention of infringement by state or Federal governments.

“… shall not be infringed.” means, quite clearly “Shall NOT be infringed” I don’t know how this could be misconstrued, except by some kind of treasonous, devious, pretzel dissimulation.

  7. I am reminded of when (many years ago) IL instituted the F irearms O wners I dentification C ard.

No card, no buying ammo or guns. Like Brad said, across the border until those assholes starting checking ID’s to be sure you weren’t from IL. Then you had to find a dealer that wasn’t an asshole.

I like Brad had the FFL so not as much a problem for me. When Clinton / Reno came I determined it could be hazardous to my family’s health and turned it in… Stocked up quantities that turned out to be insufficient.

Most will find a way around it if they use larger amounts and reload.
