Count me among the Pollyannas who was sure that when the election was done the pandemic would be “done,” too. November 4 would dawn bright and clear, the thunderheads of contagion looming on the horizon dissipated by a dry air mass of political reality.
And I was not alone. None other than President Trump was with me, as were pols and pundits across the conservative landscape who speculated that the draconian restrictions on liberty were as much a political tactic employed by the Left as they were a public prophylactic against viral pestilence.
If Biden won, the Democrats would stumble into sanity and downplay the potency of the virus — we need only protect vulnerable populations, those with comorbidities, they would say; everybody else can return to normal. Or they would adopt more amenable metrics for analyzing the crisis — the number of cases doesn’t matter, because practically everybody recovers; it’s deaths caused by COVID alone that are important. They would urge a return to normalcy, and a few months later claim credit for a booming economy.
If Trump won, the Dems would see the futility of their political gambit and back off — I told you I was a Pollyanna. I mean, they wouldn’t keep this up for four more years. Would they?
The result, either way, would be kids streaming into classrooms and fans flooding into NFL stadiums. We could get back to where we were before China dispatched its ambassadors of death.
But it didn’t happen. The election is nearly two months into our rearview mirror, and the lockdowns continue, and are even being gleefully ramped up in Democrat strongholds like California SSR.
What’s more, there is very little hand-wringing from liberal politicians and their media minions. Lockdowns have retained their pre-election cachet and journalistic imprimatur. Those protesting the ruination of their professional lives by overreaching governmental diktats are still cast as enemies of the state, crazy, self-absorbed reactionaries unconcerned about the health of the body politic.
It makes you wonder why. What are the libs getting out of this?
There are WAY too many politicians that lust for power and the taste of it is quite similar to a shark smelling blood.
Bank account seizure of 30% from every citizen across the board.
30% from the wealthy with real assets
30% from the middle class
30% from the poor (AKA Fuck all of fuck all)
No seizures from politicians who have benefits and pensions which will be continued as is since they are never really OPENLY valued.
The other sad note;
There are many more ignorant Americans than I realized.
The 2nd Amendment of OUR Constitution must be rumbling and grumbling….Just waiting to be unleashed and exercised.
Probably something to do with limiting mobility by means of vaccine, such as limiting gas purchases, or making regulations about private car air filtration covid requirements, they’re already getting control of mass transit and air travel. And remember, Biden actually mused about requiring masks while driving on federal interstates. If Buttigieg becomes Secretary of Transportation, I have no doubt the little technocrat fascist will find ways to make mobility miserable for us.
One of the hallmarks of being an American was our freedom of movement to escape bad circumstances, find opportunity and just live like we want, dammit. The powers that be are sick and tired of it, and they’ll find ways to box us in with covid.

Special permission to travel.
Carbon taxes/Fees for leaving your area of control.
Social credit scores.
Tax people into compliance.
Facial recognition everywhere.
Allowances on how much meat vs Soy you are allowed to eat.
Permission to procreate (none required for humping)
etc…
Your worst nightmare enforced by your neighbor ratting you out for a few extra rations.

Such a silly question. Beating us down like whimpering dogs will cement their hold, their control on a population, a nation of supplicants are easily managed.
I could be wrong but I don’t think they were smart enough to figure it out in the beginning. Reason has never been their forte so panic and hysteria dictated their actions. But it didn’t take long to develop a strategy; kill the golden Trump economy, create a society of helpless unemployed dependent citizens and remove all means of them taking care of themselves. Once the populace is cowed and bloody, they will ride in with stimulus checks all around, saving the day.
They have to completely destroy the middle class along with the economy that lets them thrive in order to implement “the great reset” the elite snobs have been openly talking about for the last few months. Our “betters” also want to force a social credit type system on us peons like China has so they have complete control over even the smallest facets of our lives.
Speak out against the prog politicians and “elites” and you won’t receive your “stimulus” / EBT / UBI payment and will have your purchases that are done electronically shut down as well. They want a cashless society so everything people buy can be monitored and blocked if they deem you to be unworthy of making purchases (or purchasing things they don’t like such as guns and ammo). No air travel for you either until you properly recognize their authority over your life.
The lockdowns give them another excuse to squelch the outdated ideas of basic freedoms and individual rights. It’s for the greater good you know, so any complainers are just selfish jerks that have no compassion for their fellow man. We have to trust their wisdom about the dangers that are all around us because people might start to realize that all of this fear-mongering and hand wringing is part of a larger plan.
Terrifyingly enough, I think more lethal strains will be introduced now that the virus is here. It will keep the lockdowns in place, the U. S. will be devastated by China and the lethal strains will be blamed on mutations.
So who exactly is the primary enemy of freedom? Many, if not most of our politicians, even dating back to the Continental Congress, have always been largely egotistical self serving greedy bastards. Bureaucrats naturally seek to protect their own rice bowl. Government unions and “activists” likewise gain profit and power from protecting big government.
The two primary enemies which freedom loving people need to reform are the educational bureacracy and the media. The current crop of loathsome media members did not emerge during the Trump administration – they started massively showing their true colors during the Bush administration, and ramped up their hypocrisy and manipulation during the Obama administration. The despots in our education system have been infiltrating our schools for decades. These are the two institutions that need to be attacked by people who love freedom and reformed.
This isn’t new. Revolutionaries know that in order to succeed, the first thing they need to control is the media. And in order to maintain power, these dictators know that they need to capture the education system and indoctrinate the young. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Castro, Chavez and similar ilk have all adhered to these principles.
Society is never going to reform policians and people who suck at the government teat – they have always existed and will continue to exist. As citizens, we can only control them and attempt to minimize the damage they cause. At some point, regardless of whether or not Donald Trump retains or regains the Presidency, we will need to take the longer view and dismantle the existing media and educational system. One of Donald Trump’s biggest accomplishments – even if it cost him a re-election bid – was exposing the “fake media.” At a minimum, we need to continue this track.

If the U.S. economy collapses, what is CHINA getting out of it since we’re they’re biggest customer?

I never thought this would end on Nov 4th. This only ends if and when the people say it ends. That will only happen when the day comes that we stop paying everyone to stay home. If there had been no PPP, no $600 bonus unemployment still going at $300, no moratorium on rent, mortgages or student loans and people were actually struggling we’d have people demanding this end. They just extended that date another three months. You can see the people that aren’t benefiting from these bribe payouts, independent restaurants, gyms, salons are the ones fighting. But think about it, a lot of people are getting paid more to not work and not pay their rent. This is a holiday they hope won’t end.
