American Thinker:
By Mike Feuz
In the business world, low-performance departments are often audited, reformed, and — if they continue to underperform — eliminated. It’s one of the many ways companies stay competitive — by eliminating dead weight to stay profitable and keep customers happy with high-quality service and competitive prices.
This week, the House is set to do the exact opposite. In typical “kick the can down the road” action by our elected officials, a bipartisan group of politicians is shifting billions of dollars in retirement costs from the U.S. Postal Service to Medicare. Supporters celebrate that USPS will remove unaffordable retirement costs from its balance sheet, thus keeping itself solvent. What they’ve tried to hide is Congress’s sleight of hand, which will accelerate Medicare’s projected 2026 bankruptcy.
The Congressional Budget Office’s July 2021 report laid out the situation clearly. In just the first ten years of the shifting of your tax dollars from one account to another — changing nothing but where the money is located — an additional 25% of retired postal workers are required to join Medicare. That’s required, mind you, not requested or given the opportunity to join. And that means you and I, the people who pay the postal workers’ salaries, are going to be even more on the hook for their retirements. read more
Medicare, huh? Will that get the mail delivered on time?
Didn’t Obama already do that for Obamacare?
Maybe go pick on someone else’s sacred cow for a change?
But by all means, let’s do what AOC and Bernie want, and add banking as a “public option” to function of the Post Office. What could go wrong? We’ve never had any problems with other “public options”, have we?
Fuck federal unions and ignorant uncaring politicians.
“…accelerate Medicare’s projected 2026 bankruptcy.”
…but did they adjust for all the eldery they deliberately murdered in the nursing homes with COVID?
I thought that was one of the reasons they killed old people in the first place, so they could take their money.
…well, that, and the fact that Democrats just really enjoy murdering and burning what they can’t rape and steal, so mostly that, but cost savings so they can steal more too…
But I am sure the postal employees will be so grateful to the taxpayers, that they will work really, really hard to improve service. Right? I’d be “happy” if they would just stop stealing my mail.
Maybe they should speak to Jeff Bezos about this…
“Maybe they should speak to Jeff Bezos about this…”
…and his fleet of delivery trucks courtesy of US Postal, aka US taxpayers.
One of the points of the jab was to kill off the elderly to lessen the costs of doctors and hospitalizations and social security.
Jeff Bezos may be the only thing keeping the USPS afloat.
Everyone in the private sector has to pay Medicare tax, why not the USPS workers?
All according to plan. When Medicare finally is bankrupt then Democrats will push hard for socialized healthcare. After all, it’s for the elderly. But if the old are not vaccinated, they wont get the healthcare. (you know the drill by now)
Another example of how THE UNIPARTY has hurt working Americsns for 72 years! It may be longer; but before ’50 i did not understand what i read.
BTW liberals call UNIPARTY “Bipartisan”.
Personally I could survive just fine without the USPS. Will American Thinker bill me for commenting on a post off site?
Oh! Look! He’s so smaht, he’s telling us stupidys, that all the fake money is in different little fake boxes! Isn’t he wonderful!?
The postal service can’t be saved until the feds give it up.
True dat.
Affirmative Action destroyed the Post Office. Do away with Affirmative Action and privatize the Postal Service.
Hey, it’s hard work delivering twice as many mail-in ballots as there are voters.
