BLP: Republican Congressman Marchant announced his retirement from the U.S. House on August 5, 2019.
His Dallas-area district leaves an opening for Democrats to exploit in 2020.
Marchant’s announcement comes days after RINO Congressman Will Hurd announced that he would not seek re-election in his border district. Pete Olson also retired and will not run for re-election in his district in the Houston suburbs.
Curiously, The Washington Post reports that “All three men won reelection in 2018 by five percentage points or less — in Hurd’s case, by only a few hundred votes.”
In statement thanking his family, staff, and constituents, Marchant said “I am looking forward to finishing out my term and then returning to Texas to start a new chapter.” more
Dallass is a lost cause. It’s turning into a blue shithole, just like Houston (NOla West), El Passhole, and San Assholio.
Lots of CA friends moving to Dallas area. Some conservative, some not.
Many people I know think the next elections may turn Texas blue.
Retiring Republicans will probably help this out.
The louses of the GOPe: they want it easy. America be damned.
The GOP is a DEAD party.
The good news here is that former Irving mayor Beth Van Duyne is running for his seat. She made national news some time ago for pushing the City Council to vote on a resolution supporting a bill in the Texas legislature that banned Sharia Law. She was appointed by Trump to be a regional administrator for HUD, working closely with Ben Carson. When Marchant announced his retirement, Beth resigned her position with HUD to run for Marchant’s seat. I pray she wins. She would be terrific.
Oh thank goodness! I remember her. Love me some Beth Van Duyne!
Marchant is no loss, good riddance rino.
But I can’t vote for Beth! 😭 The district is huge, but it does not include the south part of my city.
@LadyGun12
Sure you can! Just dress up in a bed sheet, wrap a towel around your head and walk right in carrying a democrap poster.
