Court: Ex-Virginia Tech soccer player can sue coach for allegedly punishing her for refusing to kneel in social justice protest

Blaze: A judge ruled that a former Virginia Tech women’s soccer player can go forward with her lawsuit against her ex-coach for allegedly punishing her after she refused to kneel during a social justice protest.

Kiersten Hening was a starting defender and midfielder for the Hokies from 2018 to 2020. As a freshman, Hening appeared in all 22 games and started in 19 of them. As a sophomore, she appeared in all 19 matches, was a starter in the last 18 contests, and had the second-most minutes played among field players, according to the Hokies women’s soccer website.

However, Hening claims that the relationship with her coach changed after she refused to participate in a social justice demonstration. Hening refused to kneel before the team’s season-opening game against the Virginia Cavaliers on Sept. 12, 2020. more

  1. A nuther fine example of the Liberal mind-set where they do not tolerate any intolerance to their so called “tolerance”! You will use OUR pronouns and OUR definitions or else be ostracized, fined, failed, fired and/or cancelled and maybe even “re-educated” thru equity and justice social transformation programs, “White privilege” workshops and threats if you do not conform to OUR way of thinking!
Hey now! Welcome to the New Communism of the 21st Century! Think OUR way or else!!
(same as the old Communism, they just don’t dare use the word!)

  2. “Adair claims that two other players refused to kneel and they did not have reduced playing time.”

If this is true and can be demonstrated in court it pretty much negates her entire cause of action.

Is it just possible that the coach, doing what coaches do, decided to play someone he thought was either better or was playing better at the time?

And someone please explain to me how getting benched is a violation of her First Amendment right.

Granted, articles like these are notoriously lacking in corroboration, which if presented at trial can be compelling, on its face, at least to me, she sounds like a whiny victim who can’t deal with the fact that the coach plays his best players and she might not be one of them.

And it sets a terrible precedent, one used by the left all the time, that if things don’t go your way, never self-reflect but always blame someone else, “The coach didn’t play me because I’m too short, white, black, Seventh Day Adventist, left-handed, get good grades, live in a better neighborhood, or saw my MAGA bumper sticker and is retaliating”.
