I once had a soldier nutcracker that you put the nut in it’s mouth and pulled down the arms to crack the nut. First time I used it the arms broke off and the head popped off. Oh well I enjoy Tchaikovsky!
I’d pay good money for a traditional style nutcracker made of iron (not wood) and in the likeness of Margaret Thatcher.

Grandparents always had a bowl of nuts with the crackers and picks accompanying them at Christmas.
Now people just buy them ready to eat if at all.
Lots of little things seem to have faded or are fading away.
Things are as homemade do it yourself anymore.
And we’re less healthy.

This Thanksgiving we had Stovetop Stuffing.
St least the gravy and the potatoes were real.

Mrs. RMM and I took our oldest granddaughter to see the Nutcracker at the Houston Ballet this afternoon. We had a wonderful time.

I remember a case of oranges showing up Christmas of ’65. That was a big deal.
Dang, I hope my wife doesn’t read this. She owns what’s left of them.

We usually go to see it in Cleveland, but, since I had chest pains the last time, Blondie says we’re staying home.

My oldest son (26) has been receiving/collecting nutcrackers since he was a toddler. He has amassed quite a collection. Unfortunately he wont let us put them out this year because he’s afraid his Mom’s monster cat might knock one off a shelf…

I doubt one of those decorative nutcrackers would stand a chance against a black walnut shell.
