Creepy Abortion Case

WaEx: What to know about the shocking Nebraska abortion case in which a teenager was sentenced.

The sentencing of a Nebraska teenager and mother in an abortion-related case has drawn significant attention nationwide.

Abortion rights activists are citing it as an example of the dangers of criminalizing abortion and the possibilities of women being prosecuted for abortions in the post-Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization era.

Anti-abortion activists, meanwhile, are drawing attention to the gruesome facts of the case to say that it highlights the need for legal protections for unborn children.

Here is what to know about the complex case.

Celeste Burgess, 19, of Norfolk, accepted a plea bargain on Thursday for 90 days in jail and two years probation on the charge of concealing human remains after prosecutors agreed to drop charges of concealing a death and falsely reporting to the police.

Her mother, Jessica Burgess, 42, will be sentenced on Sept. 22 for providing abortion pills to a minor and facilitating an abortion after the 20-week gestation period under the then-applicable law. She faces up to five years in prison.

The case did not start as an investigation into an illegal abortion.

  1. from the article: ‘“A teen doesn’t want to be a mother, and for that, Republicans send her to jail,”’

she obviously doesn’t understand basic biology.
No body forced her to become pregnant, or at least that isn’t disclosed. They have no understanding of biology, acceptance of possible consequences of their actions, or respect for human life.

  2. At the time when these two ghouls killed and burned the body of the murdered baby, abortion was legal in their state up to 20 weeks gestation. Twenty. Weeks. The demonic hussy was 28 weeks pregnant. Why did it take her 7 months to decide she “didn’t want to be a mother”.

  3. I’m playing with my sweet baby granddaughter as I read this article. Although she is as born into a wedded, adult family, I still can’t imagine facilitating the cruel evil killing of my grandchild or putting my daughter through that trauma.
Why not give the baby up for adoption!?

  4. Our son was born prematurely at 27 weeks, a perfect little handsome boy; though he did have trouble in the beginning and it was a lengthy 68 day NICU stay. I cannot fathom how they could have done such a horrible thing to the innocent baby. The depravity of those two is disgusting. Why can’t some people get birth control if they can’t control themselves?!!
