Cuban dissidents criticise Barack Obama’s historic visit

TUK: A leading Cuban dissident invited to meet President Barack Obama on his historic visit to the island this week has told The Sunday Telegraph that the US president should not be visiting while human rights violations continue.

Berta Soler, leader of the ‘Ladies in White’ protest group, said she wanted Mr Obama to call for an amnesty for Cuba’s political prisoners and wait to hear the US president deliver his landmark speech before deciding if she would accept his invite to meet him at the US embassy in Havana on Tuesday.

Her non-attendance would be an embarrassment for Mr Obama, whose landmark trip to Cuba begins on Sunday. MORE

Obama is more than willing to destroy the long standing US stance on human rights violators for a free government paid trip to see his fellow marxist and have a “cool” photo op for his personal album.

I’m actually beginning to wonder whether the best way to defeat and oust this dictatorship is to open full relations to the States. Make a big show of it then watch while the Castro boys try to find a reason to keep their people impoverished and ignorant. However, like a leak in a damn that pesky freedom and capitalism will begin to leak through in greater and greater amounts until the people (even the gargantuan secret police) rise up and take their country out of the dark and painful past into a brighter future. Hell, they may even take Fidel’s body out of whatever freezer they’ve hidden it in and along with the animatronic Fidel supplied by Disney have a bonfire.
