ABC: Raul Castro said Thursday that he expected 57-year-old Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez to serve two five-year terms as president and eventually take Castro’s place as head of the Communist Party, potentially dominating Cuban politics until 2031.
It was the first time Castro has laid out a clear vision for the nation’s power structure after his retirement or death, a vision in which Diaz-Canel is Castro’s true successor as total leader of Cuba.
Castro left the presidency Thursday after 12 years in office when the National Assembly approved Diaz-Canel’s nomination as the candidate for the top government position. Diaz-Canel told the nation that Castro, 86, would remain the country’s ultimate authority as head of the Communist Party. MORE
Finally they will be able to clamp down on all that freedom they’re experiencing.
Diaz-Canel has seen the great strides made in Cuba for the people compared to the meager, stumbling steps made by the United States to make US citizen’s lives better.
Cuba’s socialized medicine, due to it’s many advances, was the first country chosen by Hugo Chavez to seek treatment, dying shortly thereafter.
Communism, as stated by US Media outlets, is great for equality of the people, except for the more than equal, powerful, lawless, political elite.
“… a boot stamping on a human face – forever …”
So Sad for Cuba – and whoever else falls for such BULLSHIT.
izlamo delenda est …
Kinda was hoping Hillary was going to be the chosen one.
She loves socialism
Party like it’s 1959
I guess if you’ve never experienced freedom, you don’t miss it.
Meet the new boss…. Same as the old boss.
Was on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Close by was a ship leaving Cuba. Never seen a clearer difference between capitalism and communism. Small Cuban ship was belching black smoke. Did not look sea worthy. Badly in need of paint and repairs. Shipping containers were small and in terrible shape. Kinda wonder what the Cuban sailors were thinking about communism while looking at luxurious American cruise ship.
Looks kinda Russian. Maybe mom had a little missile crisis of her own.
This place was a paradise before the castros and Che Guevara’s. Know the criminals family living great and the rest of the people can’t even get a aspirin.. Cuba was a paradise.
Seeing that photo of the barber and his client gave me an idea of stories that some of the sicker magazines could do:

Cosmopolitan: The Cuban Orgasm – SI!
