Melissa DeRosa, the Secretary to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, indicated during a video conference with state Democrats that the administration held back figures about the state’s coronavirus nursing home fatalities amid political attacks from President Trump and the potential that the information could be utilized by federal prosecutors.
The New York Post reported that DeRosa “said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because ‘right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football.'”
“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.” As well as targeting the Democratic governors, then-President Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us,” she said.
“And basically, we froze,” DeRosa reportedly said. “Because then we were in a position where we weren’t sure if what we were going to give to the Department of Justice, or what we give to you guys, what we start saying, was going to be used against us while we weren’t sure if there was going to be an investigation,” she explained. “That played a very large role into this,” she also reportedly said. The tweets were valid. You DID kill people in nursing homes. But facts are patriarchal or some shit.

…unless they had helped President Trump at some time in the past they had no reason to fear federal prosecutors, and the CURRENT illegitimate “federal government” would most likely send a guy over to hold Grandma’s head underwater in the tub until she bubbles, so they DEFINITELY have nothing to worry about NOW…
Does Cuomo et al realize just how childish this sounds? This is a child’s defense. “I hid the broken lamp because I didn’t want a spanking for playing basketball in the house again after having been warned.”
First of all, any sane-thinking person would never put sick people into Nursing homes! I don’t care what the level of “understanding” we had about the virus (how much do you really need to understand, it’s a PANDEMIC!!) Added to that is the fact that President Trump gave him all the resources he asked for including a Hospital ship and Field Hospital facilities that went UNUSED! There was no need to put these people into nursing home to begin with! Given all that along with burying the real casualty numbers Cuomo knew exactly what he was doing! There is no doubt that it is intentional! This man needs to be up on murder charges!
Well that didn’t come out right. Let me re-phrase –
First of all, any sane-thinking person would never put people sick with a deadly, contagious virus into Nursing homes!

…unless they WANTED the folks in the nursing homes dead so they could stop paying for their health care and pensions, collect the inheritance tax, get rid of Trump voters, run up the COVID numbers to increase fear and blame Trump some more, and just because at the end of the day it makes them feel powerful to be able to kill people who can’t fight back, of course…
So holding back the information is actually Trump’s fault.
Makes sense.
“I broke the law, but it’s Trump’s fault”.
Cuomo could kill more than two birds with one stone.
I don’t know all the details of law but that does sound like obstruction of justice. Not that that matters to any involved.
