Washington, D.C., will begin enforcing its ban on plastic straws on Jan. 1, which would penalize churches for offering free coffee if it comes with a stirrer.
The Department of Energy and Environment tweeted Thursday that Mayor Muriel Bowser has a “list of recyclables and compostables” banning plastic straws and stirrers.
However, businesses, churches, and nonprofits can hand out straws and coffee stirrers if they are made from hay.
Hay, hay, ho, ho plastic straws have gotta go.
Just another thing for smugglers to profit from. ‘Rats already are proficient at sucking through anything that has a lumen. And, in all fairness, I suppose GOPers need no practice drinking any liquid from a stemmed glass./
Well then why not use those cheap paper-wrapped chopsticks that you can get at Chinese restaurants?
Just thinking outside of the box a little, but why don’t organizations collect those used needles given out by the government and discarded by junkies, kind of sterilize them, and use them for coffee stirrers? It would be a form of multi-tasking to solve a couple of different problems.
Virtue signaling – allowing people to ignore everything else they do to harm the environment, as long as they can tell you that you are evil for using a straw.
Never lose sight of the logical conclusion of a law or other govt edict:
— If you disobey, they will fine you.
— If you don’t pay, they will arrest you.
— If you resist arrest, they will beat you.
— If you fight back, they will kill you.
They will, without compunction, kill you over a coffee stirrer.
I’m glad to hear that DC has resolved all of the issues involving crime and poverty so they can focus on the big issues.
