Dem Candidate for Texas Lt. Governor Ends His Campaign to Promote Greater Diversity

Tatum Report: Matthew Dowd’s candidacy for lieutenant governor of Texas has ended. The self-described “thought leader” recently announced that he made his decision “from a place of integrity,” citing an ABC News column from 2018 in which he argued that “white male Christians” like himself should “take it upon ourselves to step back and give more people who don’t look like us access to the levers of power.”

Dowd, who launched his campaign in September, also said, “A diverse field is now emerging in the Democratic primary for this office. I do not want to be the one who stands in the way of the greater diversity we need in politics.”

The Washington Free Beacon reports, Dowd’s departure leaves just two candidates in the Democratic primary for Texas lieutenant governor: white male Mike Collier and white woman Michelle Beckley. Dowd has argued in the past that choosing a woman for the sake of diversity isn’t always a desirable thing. The statement can best be interpreted as a barely veiled assault on Beto O’Rourke, who is projected to win the Democratic nominee for governor of Texas but is also a white male Christian competing in a more diverse primary field. 1. I am 60 years old and I have herd this crap my entire career. My first job after the military was an electronic tech at a new federal prison. It was one of two jobs. To make the numbers they hired a black female who had just graduated the local tech school for electronics. She was so green she could only operate the coffee maker. I was busy getting trained my the manufacturers on the electronic systems and she blew off the hands on training. When the prison went on-line we had to apply for the lead tech position. Guess who got it and got to right my review. I corrected the grammatical and spelling errors before I retuned it to HR. That was my fist write up. The second one was for working overtime to get a security system online. I changed jobs to a mom and pop business mache company.

That was the first of 4 different jobs where I had superior skillset/training and management training where I was passed over so that a lesser qualified person of color and/or female could be put into a position so that the company could make its numbers.

The last job I had a minority tech I had trained left the company after two years. He was a so-so to poor tech as half his jobs had to have a follow up visit to fully fix any issues. He got a night school correspondence general Business BS while working for our competitor. I have a Business Information Systems BS and a EE with emphasis in Radio Frequency Engineering duel degree. He got hired back 3 years later as my supervisor. A position I applied for but didn’t get an opportunity for an interview.

Screw diversity and let the more qualified have the position regardless of race or gender.
