Democrat Kentucky governor asks appeals court to allow him to close religious schools throughout the state

Just the News-

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has filed an emergency appeal seeking to permit him to close religious schools throughout the state following an earlier ruling dictating that he lacks the authority to do so.

Beshear, a Democrat, last week ordered all schools within Kentucky to close down in the hopes that doing so would curb the state’s recent spike in positive COVID-19 tests.

Following that order, however, U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove ruled that Beshear lacked the authority under the First Amendment to shutter private and religious schools. “[I]n an effort to do the right thing to fight the virus, the Governor cannot do the wrong thing by infringing protected values,” Tatenhove said.

In response, Beshear has filed an appeal with the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, asking that court on Thanksgiving Day to allow his office to move forward with those closures. more

  1. A “spike in positive COVID-19 tests” does not constitute a crisis. On the contrary, you want as many people as possible to get the disease. Only test if a person has symptoms. And then treat vigorously to help them through it. We know enough now to do that successfully in almost all cases. YOU CAN NOT STOP THIS VIRUS.

Otherwise, open up the society COMPLETELY. People at risk know what to do. Grow up, governors, and get over your fear. And this, too, shall pass.

  2. I see the asshole is attempting to apply another one of the pillars of communism, can’t indoctrinate kids in the religious schools if the Teacher’s Unions can’t get to them.

  3. Just more of the ¢o¢ksu¢kers agenda.
We should be thankful for covid, it has completely eradicated heart disease and repository illnesses, as the number one causes of death.
This virus was engineered with a purpose.

  4. ” …. would curb the state’s recent spike in positive COVID-19 tests.”

A positive test does not mean you’re sick, are going to get sick, or are going to be contagious to others.

There are no studies or scientific studies medical evidence to show asymptomatic spread or rates of positive tests to actual sickness that I’m aware of, and those claiming there are never seem to be able to give reference to them.

  5. Under whose authority does he have the power to mandate this total unconstitutional, ungodly order to shut down religious schools just because he says so. Impeach him or start a massive repeal petition and get him the hell out of there. Daniel Boone and others who came over the Cumberland Gap and founded Kentucky would’ve tarred and feathered him buck naked and run him him out of Kentucky on a rail or they would’ve just shot him on sight. This can not stand.

  6. ” Impeach him or start a massive repeal petition and get him the hell out of there. ”

That’s been tried elsewhere and failed.

Governors who do this sort of thing actually turn out to be highly popular among the people who elect them, they give them what they want.

  7. …every time I go to NKY, I drive past a huge towable highway sign saying COVID 19 TESTING with an arrow pointing down a street in Ben Hur title size, suggesting that the Commonwealth is promoting testing rather heavily. This is the first “disease” we’ve ever pointlessly tested the HEALTHY for, however, and it’s actually fairly common and the test are shitty, sometimes deliberately so, which means LOTS of false positives on asymptomatic people so Mr. Democrat gets the bulky numbers he needs to shut everything down.

A friend of ours owns a restaurant in Ludlow and they’ve made him kick his customers out for the THIRD time this year and go to carryout ONLY, a format for which his business was NEVER designed. He just got married before this insanity begin, and my wife notices he’s getting a little desperate-seeming in trying to keep his business going because he can’t keep his wait staff on retainer and he doesn’t make NEARLY as much money, plus his signature special fries and pountine do NOT travel well so he has to offer things that DO like baked beans with his burgers to try to have SOMETHING people will buy so he can make the rent and pay even his reduced staff and himself. He also had just expanded and added a bar, and of COURSE Governor Sleazy shut THAT down as well, PLUS made him unplug his console games even when he DID let people come in, and all for NOTHING.

…it’s a little hard to maintain a small business in the face of a Government that is DELIBERATELY trying to kill ALL small businesses, since the Democrat plan seems to be some sort of Blade Runner dystopia where a centralized government/corporate complex controls absolutely ALL buying, selling, and hiring, guess they saw The Tyrell Corporation and the Weyland/Utani corporation and decided that was what they were SHOOTING for…

  8. …also, they claimed this guy was elected because the Teacher’s Union got mad when the previous Republican governor actually had to make them face the REALITY that their pensions were untenable, so they pushed everyone in KY to vote for the Democrat. Yeah, there was some of that, but really, how many people will do what their TEACHERS tell them to do in the world at large, REALLY? Especially in Deep Red KY, would that SINGLE political group ACTUALLY be able to drive a statewide gubenatorial election that effectively?

…now consider that on the down-ticket, Republicans won EVERY SINGLE STATEWIDE ELECTION, which the Democrats CLAIMED was because the Republican Governor was SO abrasive and SUCH an asshole that people didn’t like him PERSONALLY, and this starts to sound VERY familiar, almost like this was an experiment for a nationwide election or something…
