WASHINGTON EXAMINER: Between President Trump setting low expectations for Joe Biden’s debate performance and historical precedent of incumbent presidents not performing well in the first presidential debate, Democrats are optimistic that the first encounter between the major-party candidates will be Biden’s to lose.
The challenge, though, is that Trump could ignite the Democratic presidential nominee’s short temper with criticisms of his family or on matters of personal pride.
What the Biden campaign doesn’t want is a debate-stage version of when Biden told a Michigan autoworker that challenged him on guns that he is “full of s—,” or when he said that an Iowa voter who questioned his mental fitness and son Hunter Biden’s connections to a Ukrainian gas company was a “damn liar” and challenged him to an IQ test and pushup contest.
Trump has suggested that Biden’s good performance in the last Democratic presidential debate against Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders this year was due to performance-enhancing shots and called on Biden to take a drug test before the debate — a request that the Biden campaign denied with a urine joke about Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. I was doing more than he’s accomplished in the last 47 years when I had been in the Navy for 1 year and was getting ready to make my way on my 1st trip overseas on a WestPac tour.

It will be up to the President to push Joe. You know that Chris will not be asking any “gotcha” questions. I do expect some direct questions, which Joe will dance around and the President will stand on his record. Since Chris will want to appear neutral, it will be up to the Trump Train to derail Joe and his memorized “well, there are a lot of things to consider, Russia, bad response to covid, tax cuts for the rich, etc.”
Joe has the questions, Joe is on drugs, Joe probably has an ear piece, Joe probably has been working on a zinger situation like what Hillary did in debate 1, the Ms. Piggy silly question about him allegedly commenting on a former pageant winners weight. With all this advantage Joe should be able to make it through with an attack approach well enough for the media to proclaim him the winner. However this is Donald J Trump, he instinctively has a way about him and 4 years of experience by fire. POTUS thrives on chaos, he takes questions daily, he gives two hour rally speeches without taking a skipping a beat. And he isn’t on performance drugs and contrary to what they think he does have a solid temperament. If anyone can over come a setup and turn it around it is him.
He got beat by his umbrella when boarding the plane to Ohio. Couldn’t figure out how to close it before going through the door. He just left it for someone else.
