Dick Durbin complains about being denied Communion over abortion

(LifeSiteNews) – Democrat U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, who identifies as Catholic, complained in an interview published Monday that it’s “complicated” to be denied Holy Communion over his support for abortion-on-demand.

“It’s not a happy experience,” Durbin, who has been barred from receiving Communion in his home Diocese of Springfield since 2004, told America Magazine’s Jim McDermott. “I found another Catholic venue, the Archdiocese of Chicago, and a church where they were willing to let me in and allowed my wife to join me. So it’s become my new faith home.”

“But now that’s been complicated again,” he continued, by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’s (USCCB’s) June vote to draft a document that pro-lifers hope and pro-aborts fear could lead to a policy of denying Communion to politicians complicit in legal abortion. Durbin said he was advised to wait for a pending “last word on the subject” from Pope Francis. more

  1. The question is always “Who is your God?” – Who comes first in your life?
If it is family, job, safety, etc. etc, many of which are good, but God comes second, (or third), you are in deep trouble.

  2. Your preist is just doing his DUTY to GOD as defined in the BIBLE, and trying to keep you from damning yourself, “Dick”

I capitalized the words you probably aren’t familiar with, “Dick”. Study on your own time.

But here’s the specific WORD OF THE LORD…

“27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.”
    1 Corinthians 11:27-29

But go ahead and pule about it, “Dick”. Don’t fix the SIN or anything, just complain that mean ol’ preisty won’t let you bea pretend Christian who isn’t impressing the actual LORD one little bit with his Communion play-acting.

    You make me sick.

  3. The left really does concoct it’s own reality as it see fits. Doesn’t matter at all if it contradicts itself every-other half hour.

I find it wearisome they either pretend they don’t know this, or they are really that stupid. Either way, I have little patience for it.

  4. A real Pope would have denied you communion. This one will advice the council to let evil people like you have it. But it all comes down to the God you will face after you die and not a church.

  5. I am really confused. Durbin, the current Pope, and others support abortion and then want to be considered faithful.
If you are Catholic, I understand that the Pope is supposed to be infallible. I am a Christian, I am not Catholic, though many of my family are, there is a disconnect. Am I wrong? Are they wrong? I have my opinion, they have theirs. I am not going to stoop to the level of the left and say that they are heathens. We just disagree on some topics.
In my opinion, Durbin and those that support abortion on demand are wrong. I split with the love of my life because she got an abortion. No, I do not want sympathy. Our views are different and I wish we had realized it before my daughter lost her life.

  6. He denied himself communion with Christ when he embraced Satan and Satan’s policies on Earth whether or not the Church allows him to eat the Host.

Apparently Dick’s unclear on the concept.
But then, Dicks aren’t always the best thinkers.

  7. This kind of crap is why I quit the Catholic Church after 55 years of being a lifelong Catholic.

The CINO Catholics In Name Only like Turbin, PEElosi and *Biden are despicable. They are selling their souls to Satan in return for a few measly votes from their damned-by-God pro-abortion supporters.

  8. The Catholic Church, like America, has its problems. Both are long established institutions run by humans who are supposedly guided by unbreakable principles and a higher purpose. Too often, they are overrun by humans with selfish motives. Still, I fear a world in which either of these entities ceases to exist.

  9. Luke was a physician, historian, and a contemporary of the Christ. In Chapter 1 he describes, when Mary was told by an angel that she was to bear the Son of God, she went to stay with her cousin, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant with John the Baptist. Take note of the impact that the tiny zygote Mary was carrying had on Elizabeth and her unborn baby, and ask yourself this. When does God say that life begins?
    Luke 1-
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

  10. I relly don’t understand how you pray to God on Sunday, then support, enable and champion abortion on Monday, then deny that they are babies for the rest of the week… unless yer a disingenuous, double-dealing, two-faces democRAT!

  11. Durbin is more concerned for the little wafer than he is for the Millions of murdered babies.
He has turned his back away from the teachings of Christ, yet thinks he should not be denied the meaningful rituals of Christianity.
Durbin represents the muck and filth of humanity who attend Churches, yet had never given Christ their heart or relinquished their sinful nature and evil actions.
Durbin has no fear of God’s Judgement.
He should choke upon the little wafer he thinks he is entitled to, worth more to him than the Millions of Murdered babies or the Words of Christ.

  12. It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.

  13. If there is one thing you should take away from reading scripture is that God NEVER EVER accepts harming a child. NEVER.

Luke 17:2 “It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.”

I would never be able to ‘judge’ the state of their soul because I’m not God. But God is God and he knows. Being denied communion will be the least of their suffering once God gets them at the Judgement seat.

  14. “Sinners do not fear death; they fear the Revelation of the Living God.”
    (dead white dude)

Durbin fears nothing. He doesn’t believe in God, His Son, Jesus Christ, or the Holy Spirit. He believes in Power, and accedes to the murders of the innocent as sacrifices to his god Satan, or Moloch, or Beelzebub, or Baal, or Bel, or Obola, or Hanuman, or whatever they’re calling him today.
His nihilism prevents him from seeking Jesus.

  15. There are several scriptures that apply to a reprobate creep like Dickey D.
    The following are a few. The first scripture reference particularly could apply to Durbin;

    Titus 1:15-16
“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.”

    Galatians 6:7-8
7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

Durbin is so misguided, narcissistic and consumed by evil, he seems to actually believe religious absolution will substitute for being directly accountable to and forgiven by God through Christ.
