Patriot Retort: Okay, I have to tell you this story because it is too bizarre not to share.
So as some of you know, I am in a reading phase. And yesterday afternoon I started the book Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts.
It’s not one of her best. Honk and Holler Opening Soon is probably my favorite. But it’s an okay book.
Anyhow, the story is this: After the death of both his parents, a wealthy veterinarian from Beverly Hills discovers that that he was adopted. His real name is Nicky Jack Harjo and he was born in DeClare, Oklahoma.
So he decides to travel to Oklahoma to find his birth mother only to discover that she was murdered in 1972 – on the same day her baby son Nicky Jack went missing.
The book is his journey not only discovering who he is and who is mother is, but also what happened on that fateful day.
Now, here’s the part that’s bizarre.
One of the characters from the 1972 crime is a rookie reporter from Tulsa who was covering the story.
And her method of getting the scoop was sleeping with the Sheriff.
When I got to that part, I thought to myself, “Sleeping with a source for a scoop. Hmmm. I wonder if any reporter getting these illegal leaks has tried that method.”
I kid you not!
That actually went through my mind.
So you can imagine how stunned I was when I saw the report about the Senate staffer who was leaking classified information to the reporter he was sleeping with.

Man I’m getting old. I think being a SLUT use to be frowned on.
Politicians, actors, spies and social butterflies will fuck anything for information that might possibly advance their position. If you don’t get that, you probably think voting makes a difference.

When I saw the two people involved I thought that information wasn’t the only thing the guy was leaking to the reporter.
A major CNN or big time network female reporter got her hands slapped for this maybe ten years ago.
She didn’t get fired for that from what I remember.

I don’t think they were sleeping – just a guess on my part. At his age, it must have cost him a fortune in Viagra or maybe it is covered under the congressional medical plan. She isn’t that good looking but they all look good at closing time.
