I covered the screen with some paper and played along. There are 79 famous tunes (at least a dozen I never heard before in my life, but most are very familiar) that often appear in commercials and cartoons and movies.
I was able to name or partially name (some of these are in a foreign language!!! I was very liberal scoring my guesses!) 35 of them. I’m not strong on the opera, but I came through on some of them that were redone by progressive rock bands.
What pissed me off is that I have a few of the tunes in my Spotify but I still didn’t know the name. The first one out of the chute, for instance. It’s from Austin Powers, but I had no clue what it was called.
(There is a part 2. I’m going to go play.)
Can we just write down the titles on the screen? Honestly they all sounded like Inagodadavita at 78 speed to me.
Are those from the ipod 0bama gave to the Queen?
You’d have to be pretty weird to be able to name them all.
I knew a few of them. My dad asked me to lean how to play “Wheels” on the guitar when I was about 13. He even went out and bought an album with “Wheels” on it, but it was the wrong version – he got the Flying Burrito Bros version instead of the Billy Vaughan version. I learned the Chet Atkins version, so wtf.
Left Bank Two is pretty cool.
1:12 into the video. It is NOT The Benny Hill Theme. The official title of the song is Yakety Sax.
I have Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major on guitar. Very nice!
Who picked these names? This guy is a wanker. 6:53 into the video. The piece is correctly called Morning Mood.
I’m a fan of Big Band Music. I can name any tune from a Big Band. Other than that not so much.
(Almost time for Route 66 and Naked City…..no?) MeTV
I think Left Bank Two came out of this song:

I love this tune
I got 21. BUT about 10 of them I didn’t get the name, but the author or movie or opera it was from. So I cheated a bit.
Well, that was interesting but I think I’d take exception to the assertion that “everyone knows” these tunes. If you’re a certain age, culture or nationality you’ll know a certain set of them.
In my case I was familiar with the older pieces and the classical. The younger pop stuff was foreign to me.
But this was a good effort. I’m saving the link for future reference.
Know them? Hell, I have half of them burned on my ‘pooter.
And here I thought Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny and Mel Blanc wrote most of them.
What? Am I the only one who got them all correct?
Oh, you’re supposed to cover the screen?
Excuse me. Should be “Hello Mother, Hello Father”.
