  1. These stores are very poorly run. Usually only one employee there, and he’s go to check people out, stock shelves and unload trucks while keeping an eye out for shoplifters!?!

  2. I think WalMart started the self checkout thing because they wanted the customers to work for them for free. They underestimated how larcenous many in the country are. The parasites who live on welfare take what they can get for free and steal anything they can. They’re taught that as small children.

  3. How low can you go on the shop lifting scale? A neighbor, Madame Curdled Milk Face, used to brag about stealing from thrift stores. She’s dead now or she would still be at it.

  4. I stop in these stories often. Yes, the self check is now only run by a store shelf replenish employee when the normal checkout person is backed up, not the customers. I like the store because I don’t like jammed stores and check outs with 200-300 dollar buyers clogging the lines. The self checkouts sure looked like they could be tricked without much trouble.

  5. the sad part is most people think the stores eat the losses. They don’t if they can. They should and must be passed on to the other consumers for the business to stay in business. Store thieves should be severely punished as they are stealing from us. AS for me I try never to use the self checkout. 1 for me a former cashier its like working off the clock. 2 I want the lines to back up so maybe they will hire more real people. Just a couple of many reasons not to.

  6. Good. I can’t stand self checkout. Living in a rural area, there are times the Dollar General Market comes in handy…it’s too far to just go to a Publix or Winn Dixie for a quick run to the store. Plus, their gas prices are usually the lowest in town.
