Dollar Tree Will Raise Prices Up to $7 in Stores

GP:
Discount chain Dollar Tree has announced it will raise its price cap to $7 for some store items.

During a recent fourth-quarter earnings call, CEO of Dollar Tree Rick Dreiling shared, “This year, across 3,000 stores, we expect to expand our multi-price assortment by over 300 items at price points ranging from $1.50 to $7.”

Due to the ongoing inflation under the Biden administration, Dollar Tree was previously forced to raise their prices from $1 to $1.25 in 2021.

The $7 price cap will be implemented in the fourth quarter, and at the beginning of June, a $5 price cap will be temporarily set.

Dollar Tree’s announcement comes just weeks after the discount chain announced it would close up to 1,000 stores of its sister chain, Family Dollar.

  1. They need more lawfare charges against Trump – something like “Trump is traitorously interfering with day-to-day government operations designed to decrease inflation”

    FJB and all his controllers.

  2. There’s a new junk store near me: “MEGA Dollar”. Nothing but junk.
That’s an appropriate name considering inflation will soon cause everything to cost “mega dollars”.

Whenever I go to classic car events I see tons of people trading old and recent Hot Wheels/Matchbox/Tonka/Ertle and Johnny Lightning toy cars. I never realized what a massive hobby that has become. I guess since people can’t afford the real classics anymore this is the next best thing.

  4. Jethro, 54 years ago my son Jason was born. For many years I bought him shovel nose Hot Wheels for that very reason. I am embarrassed, but when you posted I remembered that and realized I wasn’t alone. Thanks Jethro!

  5. Jethro – yes, it’s a huge hobby. Hot Wheels had the “redline” series (late 60’s-mid 70’s) and those damn things sometimes sell in the thousands on ebay ( in lots, rare cars and race sets). Now, they have “treasure hunts” and “super treasure hunts” and those sell quite well, depending on make/model. Two years ago, the AC Cobra was going for roughly 100 bucks…not bad at all for a $1.00-$1.25 car. Check out ebay under “sold listings” some time…bet it will shock you what those damn things will fetch.

  6. Took good care of my Hot Wheels, Lincoln Logs and GI Joes. My nephews ended up inheriting them.
They destroyed everything except for some reason my Battling Tops game. Little bastards.
