Within hours of the bombshell announcement that Fox News and Tucker Carlson were parting ways effective immediately, another cable news host made a smaller splash with a similar announcement. Don Lemon, 17-year veteran of CNN, took to Twitter to communicate his termination by CNN and his displeasure that management, as he put it, lacked the “decency to tell me directly.”
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned,” Lemon wrote. “After 17 years at CNN I would have though that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”
Larger issues at play? Perhaps Lemon will elaborate upon those issues in the days to come.
CNN, possessed of a familiarity with Lemon gained over seventeen years, responded to Lemon’s assertion regarding the network, declaring it “inaccurate.” more
